    Monorail Expansion?

Would they actually HAVE to be enclosed -- why not just build it like the Tomorrowland system - with a roof?? I've never found myself to hot on the one at Tomorrowland, and I think the only air-conditioned area is Space Mountain. Good point. I wonder if they could construct a few cars that...

    Monorail Expansion?

I have a question about this -- let's assume that the peoplemover at the resorts is as continous as the one at the MK - ie. there is always a line of cars at the station waiting to be filled. So if this were the case, is traffic flow of guests coming from hotel rooms to the "stations" really so...

    Monorail Expansion?

Which probably means that guests of the WDW hotels didn't have to pay for Transportation - it was probably one of the "perks" for staying on-property. Hmmm, maybe they should go back to charging for Transportation again. I know I personally would mind paying 5 or 6 bucks for a monorail...

    Monorail Expansion?

Now that I think about it more, I think they stopped the Transportation Tickets around the same time that they eliminated the Ticket Books for the rides at the MK. They probably just added the cost of the monorail pass into the price of a 1-day ticket.

    Monorail Expansion?

Actually, in the early days of WDW, you used to have to by a Transportation Ticket for the Monorails and Ferries. I'm not exactly sure when they stopped this practice, but I think it was shortly before EPCOT Center was built.

    Monorail Expansion?

Just for fun, let's say they did decide to expand the monorail system at WDW, but in order to pay for it they've decided to once again charge guests for a Transportation Pass (like they do at the Tokyo Resort). How much would you all be willing to pay for such a pass, or would you be willing to...

    Monorail Expansion?

Interesting idea, but I think I would rather have the driver concentrate on the road. I don't know about the rest of you, but the last time I took a Disney Bus from the TTC to MGM I didn't feel particularly safe. There's just something about standing in a crowded bus zooming down World Drive...

    Monorail Expansion?

I want to ask this once again, what if these monorails were AUTOMATED like the new monorails in Tokyo -- meaning they have a set time limit in the station and have automatic doors that open and close at specific times?? Wouldn't this cut down on the time it takes to load? I believe in Tokyo...

    Monorail Expansion?

This is probably quite true - but I was kind of "blue skying" here, and wasn't really thinking about cost at the moment. As for peak times, I was kind of thinking that they would stagger the park opening and closing time for the 4 parks - so that only one or two parks opened and closed at the...

    Monorail Expansion?

Why "longer" stops?? What if these were automated trains that only stoped for a very specific period of time - like the ones in Tokyo?? Wouldn't that cut down on time? As for the trains filling up, I was kind of envisioning much larger trains than the ones currently used. The MK loop would...

    Monorail Expansion?

Maybe a few of the resorts would have to be left out of the monorail loops? Also, I would leave the water parks and Wide World of Sports to alternate means of transporatation - mainly buses. My main concern is linking up the 4 theme parks to most of the hotels by a monorail system. I...

    Monorail Expansion?

I know -- I was just trying to sell him MY plan instead!! :D No offense to freediverdude, of course!

    Monorail Expansion?

Not if you're using MY plan as shown above, no2apprentice!! :animwink: With my plan you will only have to transfer once at the Animal Kingdom station. You can then ride on the Grand Loop to any of the other 3 theme parks! :D

    Misssion Space Ride System Here!

Maybe we'll get lucky and they'll use the old star field footage from Space Mountain to really make it feel like we're flying in Space!! :p

    Misssion Space Ride System Here!

       That's hysterical - though for some reason I wouldn't be at all surprised if it turned out to be true!!! I guess my faith in Disney took a nose dive after JIYI and DinoRama!

    Monorail Expansion?

It's funny you mention that - I was actually on my way back here to post about guest flow patterns, since I realized that this would still be a problem with the "Grand Loop" scheme. But there are ways to control this... For the individual resort loops, I think it would be necessary to make...

    Monorail Expansion?

That last post I made got me thinking again about the monorail, so I have another idea!! :animwink: Think about this, and I want you "logistics" people to tell me your opinions of it. Imagine for a moment that there is no TTC, and all of WDW's theme parks have a parking lot in front of...

    Monorail Expansion?

I do know for a fact (and this comes from talking to a friend who helped open EPCOT Center), that there was originally going to be another resort loop in the EPCOT area, with another monorail station at EPCOT directly opposite the one that is there now - which is probably why the gates for EPCOT...

    Monorail Expansion?

Excuse me MrPromey - you know what I think is stupid? Relpying to a post I made days ago without bothering to read what I wrote later - like where I said that FantasiaBoi has convinced me that monorails are not the best way to go as WDW now stands. Maybe you should try reading the whole thread...

    Monorail Expansion?

Sorry, you posted this while I was busy typing another reply. I do see your point, and I did point that out in my previous post. As WDW is built today, there is no way that the monorails could handle all of the guest traffic. I get it. What I was saying, is that they shouldn't have...
