    I Like The Wand

Actually, that’s not what Disney used to be about – it’s only in the last decade or so that Disney has played up this whole “magic” and “characters” thing. Disney used to be about innovation and unique experiences that you couldn’t get anywhere else. But thanks to all the recent marketing...

    I Like The Wand

No offense, but if you want magic, why not just go to the Magic Kingdom. Magic is not what EPCOT is supposed to be about. It’s supposed to be about the wonders of the future and the wonders of the world around us. I just don’t understand why Disney feels that ALL of the theme parks at WDW...

    Why is the Wand.......

Wait, WHAT??? I don't get this line of reasoning at all. Do the castle and Tree of Life need a big Mickey sign next to them to make them more "Disney"? No, of course not, and neither does Spaceship Earth. It's "Disney" because it's at WDW. I just don't understand this whole "it needs...

    SPACE Developing

That's awesome!! I LOVED Earth Station, and still miss it to this day. I remember when I was younger, my father making reservations with the video screens, and sitting and watching those great animated previews of what was in store for the rest of the day. It was a great way to get excited...

    Timekeeper and CoP again...

Let's not forget that this show has a HUGE capacity. Whenever I go on it it always seems to be relatively busy -- never full, but they fill up a lot of the seats in there. Besides, let's say they did close it -- do you really think they'll replace it with something new anytime soon?? The...

300 Million Dollar Budget - EPCOT Rumor

Didn't they already try something like this about 5 or 6 years ago?? I seem to remember an "after 4" pass that they used to sell for half-price at Epcot. I don't think it lasted very long though.

    Timekeeper and CoP again...

Wait a tick -- they're closed again?? I was under the impression that they were going to be open all summer. By the way RobFL - love your avatar; I miss that ride!!!

    Indiana Jones Rumor

Rides always tend to be a lot more repeatable than shows - I think it has to do with always seeing something new each time you ride. And MGM could really use a few more ride-through attractions.

    Indiana Jones Rumor

I think the Indy ride would fit just as well in MGM as Star Tours and Muppets do. All they would have to do was theme it as a "working set" - like Star Tours is. Make it look like you are entering a set, and the when you are in the queue, you are fully immersed in it - just like once you get...

    Monorail Expansion?

Those Tokyo Monorails sound amazing. You all should check out these pictures of the system on Mouseplanet: http://www.mouseplanet.com/tokyo/edwards/edwards01.htm The pictures are towards the bottom of the page. I love the way they have their stations setup, and I would love for any new...

    Monorail Expansion?

Another Question for Tyler... I know you mentioned before that you couldn't add anymore monorails to the existing EPCOT loop, could you explain why?? Is it the weight of the trains on the guideway, or is it because of guest flow, or another reason?? The reason I ask was because I was...

    Monorail Expansion?

Re: Fix the current system? I may be one of the only ones that thinks this way, but I love the look of the guideway - I think it looks great around that lagoon and around EPCOT. To me, there's just something so sleek and futuristic about it - and I just love watching the monorails travel on...

    Monorail Expansion?

Re: Re: Re: monorails I understand all of your points, and these are all very valid, but I think I would need to see some hard data before I ever said that a monorail system at WDW could NEVER, EVER work. I agree that if they expanded the current system as they are designed NOW, then there...

    The Sorcerer's Hat Is Staying

I agree with you, BUT what happens if the parks start to decline as well?? The parks need constant re-investment in order for them to stay on top, and I think Disney needs to be very careful when taking money from the parks to shore up other underperfroming business units.

    Monorail Expansion?

Re: Re: Re: Re: I agree, garyhoov While I'm sure it wouldn't be the only reason, it's not ridiculous to assume that it could be part of a number of reasons why someone would return.

    Monorail Expansion?

Then they need a swift and efficient system designed to remove the "dead" monorail as quickly as possible from the tracks. I have confidence that they could come up with something.

    Monorail Expansion?

All of those points you've made are definitely vaild - and they've been mentioned quite a few times on this thread, but how about coming up with some solutions to these problems?? Are we all so sure that there isn't any way that monorails could be made to work at WDW??

    Monorail Expansion?

Though I have seen a lot of interesting observations on these boards as to why the monorails "as they exist today" could not handle all of WDW's transportation woes, I'm still not convinced that Disney couldn't come up with a very well-designed and efficient design for a monorail system with...

    Monorail Expansion?

I agree, but I don't see any reason why a new WDW Transportation system can't be part of this "idealistically practical" approach :) -- as long as they spread it out over time and don't try to pay for it all at once, I would think it could be quite practical. They're going to have to do...

    The Sorcerer's Hat Is Staying

Which is fine by me - as long as the ride itself is top quality, I have no problem with them having a few displays highlighting the sponsers products. As long as it's tasteful, and doesn't take away from the attraction's theming, then I really don't see a problem with it. The parks have...
