Spirited News, Observations & Thoughts Tres

A while back they did work on the swan boat dock to prep it for Wishes FP viewing. Was that plan scrapped?

Spirited News, Observations & Thoughts Tres

It's not much different than the preferred viewing areas that are (maybe were?) included in Premium and Platinum packages. I've have more than my fair share of bad fireworks viewing (sudden kid on shoulders, tall person stands up), so I understand the appeal. FP for Wishes affects no one but...

    MK Mine Ride Construction Update

That picture does make it look like an intentionally designed pile of mine waste. I'm no expert, but that doesn't look like handcrafted dwarf waste rock.

    New vacation planner

Haven't they already reduced the frequency they issue the planning book? I don't recall getting a new one last year, but could be remembering incorrectly. They've already made it cheaper to produce, as I think they used to do hardcover, but stopped about 5 years ago.

    Sigma announces 18-35mm f/1.8 APS-C zoom

That tagged the wrong Tom...my husband doesn't know anything about cameras! :) Should have summoned @WDWFigment

    Check in?

When we stay regular, usually our rooms are ready when we arrive after an early morning flight. Our DVC rooms are normally not ready. Usually we'll get a text before 4 pm telling us it's ready though. Only once has it taken until 4 to be ready, and that was probably only a quirk of the...

    Grand Floridian Villas

Eh, is BLT any easier to book now that it's been open almost 4 years? Not in my experiences. Only time will tell if the allure of VGF has the staying power that BLT does. I really like what I've seen of the rooms, and if they end of being nice in person, that could be enough to make up for...

    Travel Tripod Suggestions!

Comparing tripod features is akin to torture for me, but the MeFoto Backpacker (link from post #2) is shorter/has a lighter load capacity than the Roadtrip. Unless you don't care about height or load, I'd scratch the Backpacker from contention. I think The Roadtrip is "technically" a class...

Random Musings from a Disneyland Trip

Check and check :) We did Wine Country Trattoria, and waited like vultures for our section to open. We still got crappy spots. Expensive meal, crappy viewing. We were also in the Tiki Room Dole Whip line, and it never moved. There had to have been some kind of malfunction with the machines...

Random Musings from a Disneyland Trip

Apparently we should have gone when you did, between this and the railing spot for WOC 6 minutes before show. Even late at night, I never saw a Dole Whip line that I could have gotten though in less than 20 minutes. The one time we tried, we only moved ahead one person in 10 minutes.

Random Musings from a Disneyland Trip

I really need to watch a ride through from when the ride first opened. Not knowing the ride intimately, it was hard to know what effects were or weren't working on our trip. The white walls worked the first few days of our trip, but not the last few. One tractor tipped every time, but are...

    Concierge?

Thanks! My hubby must have been running some searches because he sent me a link to a thread where both of you had also commented on your concierge experience. I'm glad we have a few months to think about what we might want to book. I like the first boarding! We will be taking DCL transfers...

    Concierge?

On a whim, we just decided to upgrade to a category V stateroom on our 3-night on the Dream next February. I've toured some of the concierge area on the Fantasy, and we've stayed club level a few times in WDW. Anything important or exciting we should know before our cruise? I want to make...

    Grand Floridian Villas

That's what we're doing. I like the rooms, and we'll try for something at 7 months for our next trip. However, I don't like the transportation situation at the Grand Floridian, it would truly take a walkway to the MK to get me to reconsider a small add on. I'm crossing my fingers that when...

    Booking Question?

I'd side with the buses. Our experience with OKW buses was good when we stayed there, and I find in general that that area of resorts is within an easy travel distance from MK, Epcot and DHS. If you're flying with 2 young ones you'd have to bring or rent a carseat/booster. If you're driving...

Spirited News, Observations & Thoughts Tres

I'm not following the BOG debate closely, but in general it seems that people don't like lunch there, which I'd agree with. Food was a letdown at lunch, and surprisingly good for dinner.

    Booking Question?

I would only stay in a 1 Bedroom with 5 people at BLT or AKV Kidani since they have two bathrooms. If you're all good at sharing, a 1 Bedroom would be do-able if it opens up availability somewhere a 2 bedroom isn't. Based on what I see, Saratoga and Old Key West are the only places available...

    Disneyland or DCA Conundrum

Sounds like you've been enough that most of the duplicate rides you can skip without feeling like you're missing much. If I could change only one thing from my trip, it would be to skip Peter Pan. Even though the rides are a little different, there were better uses of half an hour first thing...

    Disneyland or DCA Conundrum

You didn't specifically say, but are you a WDW regular? If I had one partial day to there again, I'd do something like this- Go to DCA, RSR single rider line a few times. Do Mater's if the line is short, skip Luigi's. Eat lunch in Cars Land. Walk through the whole park, but skip all WDW...

    Tom's 2013 DLR Trip Report

Yes! Especially getting rid of a stage show and an attraction to make room for it. If they do add some sort of Cars Land to DHS, crowds and lines will be outrageous.
