The Finest Hours - Chris Pine

Saw the presentation for it at D23 and thought "looks good, need to see that one." I think it played in a few local theaters for one week....then gone. It was this years "Timothy Green" a.k.a. a non-blockbuster, non mega budget pic that the company didn't support much. Sad.

Breaking News from Walt Disney Animation June 30th at 12:00PM

I grew up during the era of The Beatles, so no.

Breaking News from Walt Disney Animation June 30th at 12:00PM

For what it's worth, I stopped playing video games around the time of "Burgertime" and I still enjoyed the heck out of Wreck-it-Ralph. I had no idea what games a lot of the characters were from and probably mised some 'inside game nerd fanboy jokes" but the movie was still very enjoyable. Back...

They Built it so we would come and spend money!!!

All of the above are so true, but who is/are "They"? OP, please define! Also...

They Built it so we would come and spend money!!!

See? The OP can skip college now. Economics explained! Best thread ever. No one truly appreciate the genius of simplicity.

    Song of the South

Great movie. Wonderful character animation and fantastic music. But I love all the 40's stuff. Also, opening the proverbial 'can of worms' by reviewing it. Right up there with Brazilian tour groups, park maintenance and free drink refills.

They Built it so we would come and spend money!!!

Just who are "They"? Aliens? Accountants? Crazed capitalists? This thread could be mind-blowing if the truth gets uncovered. It could answer a lot of questions....

Movies that should be added to The Great Movie Ride

Well....the 'working' Busby Berkeley scene looks like a carousel of blow-up dolls purchased from an 'adult' shop. Kinda glad they are still now...lol.

Movies that should be added to The Great Movie Ride

Yeah, the AA's are sad. No doubt. The worst, by far, is Tarzan. I laugh when he swings by. And I LOVE old Tarzan movies. Sallah is it for poc's.

Movies that should be added to The Great Movie Ride

I agree to some extent. I love the Bond movies and the LOTR trilogy, but the reality of IP rights would make adding anything apart from what Disney already owns (or can get cheap) unlikely. The original plan for the "Fantasia" scene was excellent but it got cut due to time and money (surprise)...

Movies that should be added to The Great Movie Ride

OK, once more....Chaplin (anything with his Tramp)- it isn't a 'Great' movie ride without Chaplin Gone With The Wind (Scarlet O'Hara..."with God as my witness"), because having the Rhett carrying her up the stairs scene would look terrible...

New Act in Canada at Epcot? ... again?

Yeah, when I think of the UK and music, I think of The Beatles first, then the Stones or Elton, Floyd ; but the new guys cranking out Duran Duran....meh.

New Act in Canada at Epcot? ... again?

Didn't really care for either Off Kilter (can't stomach bagpipes) or their replacement 'jacks. The lumberjacks weren't my cuppa tea either (chainsaw noise just isn't pleasant). In all fairness though, they had it really stacked against them because of the hardcore fans. There was a smaller but...

Opinions on Blue Lagoon Island Dolphin Swim

Didn't do that one but did do the meet a sea lion one, which was very memorable. The Blue Lagoon is a great facility and it was sure worth the time and money. Being in the water with these animals was wonderful. We saw a lot of folks doing the swim with a dolphin experience and they seemed to be...

    Tower of Terror Relevance

Until "the shark". The first season of that show, by most standards, was excellent.

    Tower of Terror Relevance

As far as the 'nostalgia' debate goes. It isn't a post 94' 'thing' at all. I'm 58, grew up in the 60's and early 70's. I loved watching old Superman reruns, I Love Lucy and You Bet Your Life. Those were fairly ripe by then. Also listened to late 20's and early 30's jazz when i was in college in...

    Tower of Terror Relevance

Maybe my favorite episode of any program, ever. That and "The Monsters are Due on Maple Street". just such intelligent and amazingly subversive writing.

    Tower of Terror Relevance

Crazy idea- the attraction as it exists gets a few people interested in one of the best written shows ever and they become interested in it, watch it and learn. Yeah, crazy. Leave it alone.

    Walt Before Mickey

I watched it for about twenty minutes. The production values, acting etc. are significantly better than "As Dreamers Do" but apart from the very basic story it's not real accurate. If you aren't much for details and just want a general overview, you'll enjoy it. If you are a Disney history nerd...
