Coronavirus and Walt Disney World general discussion

On the UK forums we have a lady who is out in Florida now - there is a lot of confusion (im assuming she will be onsite), not sure what happens to their holiday, she's worried that she may just have to leave (she literally had 11 out of her 14 day holiday left) and she will get nothing refunded...

Well there was one not far back proving my point going “all those who are taking about spring break....no wdw for you” my god seriously there is no need! People are fed up enough as it is - there has been many instances on this thread

Coronavirus and Walt Disney World general discussion

You know what really disturbs me on this thread that there is some people on this thread that seems to have a real amount of glee about the thought of WDW closing without really understanding the impact it has on people both in terms of workers, and also people who have been looking forward to...

The case by the CMO and top scientists is sound though - a lot of what is happening is driven by populist politics as well; there is no evidence that shutting down schools for example is effective at all - we have three weeks to Easter break I feel many schools may break up early which is there...

Would this not possibly be how they deal with the tons of bookings they have from European nations? or whether they would accept people from Europe prior to Friday i.e. how are they going to deal with people from France who are flying over tomorrow prior to the ban?

Feel a bit sorry for some of those who have had very few cases! I assume they see the Schengen zone free movement as a massive risk I guess! My big issues is with Russia who has no restrictions but I can guarantee probably has as many cases as most European nations if not more due to where their...

There is no coincidence that it was announced late last night (UK time) that Johnson was making an announcement tomorrow - this was not even seen to be a possibility earlier in the day when he was in parliament; conversations have been had to make this work.

You wont be able to get on a flight to the US here in the UK due to point of origin restriction both in terms of API/ESTA information we have to put in - so will be denied boarding in the UK anyway. If on a through ticket then you'll be stopped in Europe and I assume and non uk national will not...

Yes said on the UK board Trump and Johnson have very clearly had a conversation where Trump has laid down terms to enable travel to continue for now i.e. restriction of flights into the UK/ social distancing measures etc.

Lots of UK people worried that we may become a transit for people to try and get over to US - our PM is making an announcement tomorrow and wonder if its coordinated and we may restrict European flights as well? (would have to be eurotunnel and ferries for us as well though)

Do you not think as well that WDW (and Disneyland) are signs of normalcy for many people, stopping the panic because if WDW is open then things cannot get that bad. IF WDW and Disneyland do close then it is a sign (especially as stated it hasn't closed before for many other disasters other than...

Heres a controversial one - do you think its time we move on from number of cases per area and look at death rates? for example, we know its going to spread if you look at S. Koreas number of cases. you'd be horrified - then you look at their death rates and see its not much worse than the flu...

Thank you for this - the laugh is im a sociology tutor by trade so know all about moral panics/news values etc in the media so I should know better!! its just that I have so much to lose and I worry that the constant panic and hysteria will make governments overreact before necessary and make...

No unfortunately flight only with Virgin - the rest with WDTC (which is fine I know I can get refunded that part especially if they close). I guess its just the uncertainty and as you know its 24/7 wall to wall apocalyptic/doomsday scenarios atm and it really affects your perception of whats...

Not so easy right now over here - if I cancel now I would lose my total airfare as there is not a cancellation policy in place with Virgin at all atm. Only way I can get that back is if the FCO put in place restrictions to fly to the US - its just a bloody nightmare.
