Disney (and others) at the Box Office - Current State of Affairs

Yeah, but citing local Halloween "trends" is an easy way to dismiss a movie's performance with anecdotal data. Data that can't actually be verified. Box office is the ultimate barometer. Anything else is often cherry picked examples.

SPOILERS: Snow White live action (March 21, 2025 release)

I know a lot of people didn't see this, but it's still odd to come to the thread after watching it on Disney+ to find 25 pages of discussion and maybe 3-5 actual thoughts on the movie. For me, this was fine. The music was good, but lacked a real showstopper. Even just one "Under the Sea" level...

I wouldn't put it past the Traitors to do something fun utilizing Natalie's sister.

MK The Hall of Presidents closing for refurbishment on January 20, 2025 [Reopened June 29, 2025]

Yep, Disney parks should always have a few attractions that are reliably available with a reasonable wait. The advent of Fastpass has meant it's harder and harder to find an attraction that is accessible when every other standby line in the park is long. A friend pointed that out when Universe...

The only one I recall hearing about was doubling of all prizes for All Stars other than the winner amount. I wouldn't be surprised for something similar for WaW. I think I read they were guaranteed a fee for the reunion. Don't know how that differs. EoE also meant all players would get paid a...

Kelley said on RHAP she was in talks for AU vs The World, but turned it down in part because she was offered less money than other contestants. Survivor AU pays appearance fees.

I must have got it backwards in terms of who was pushing for what. Part of me feels like anyone pushing for Colby and Ozzy hasn't seen the show in decades and just remembers those big names. I'm a little surprised they didn't get cold feet with Ozzy given his career choices.

They committed to diverse casting starting with 41 so that may have played a factor. They couldn't do a predominantly white cast like Winners at War was. From what I've read the original plan was focused more on the past but CBS pushed the new era. I get it, it's a TV show first. The show got...

In a show where people are worried about being a successful lawyer, it seems crazy to think of someone as successful as Mike White winning Survivor. He could give the money to charity, but even then he's taking away money from a player who actually needs it. He had his chance to play just for...

I'm not sold on Joe, but at least in his exit interview he said he'd play differently depending on the vibe. Getting Mike White back would be a coup. However, he played for the experience, not to win. What more does he get out of playing Survivor again? Will everyone suck up to him in the hopes...

Kamilla said in her interview she was prepared to come in hard and even lie to take more credit for moves Kyle made. It would have been interesting to see. If the jury really didn't like the final three she would be in the always strong position of being the one finalist without blood on her...

Current Crowd Levels & Visitor Origins

Note that they were expecting tourism to grow this year, as it has in previous years. Being stagnant at 0% is obviously not the end of the world but it represents a downward trend.

    General Star Wars News

I said at the time, they should have had Rian and JJ collaborate on Episode 9. JJ did a great job making a movie that felt like classic Star Wars, but leaned towards rehashing what came before a bit too much. Rian was more willing to move the franchise forward.

I'd love to see them borrow an idea from Survivor SA and do a returnee season with a tribe of pre-mergers versus post-mergers. The current pre-merge, by design, makes for surprising boots where players have very little room to maneuver. Give some of them a second chance.

Coming up: the Survivor 50 cast reveal and I expect 20,000 hours of pre-season podcast coverage for the first returnee season in a long time. Survivor 49 I guess? Bur first, Australian Survivor vs The World. July I think.

Well, the finale played out mostly predictably. I did not see Joe coming in third place. I did think they might have been leading to a "surprise" Joe win during the Jury speaks segment, as he was downplayed there. The final tribal was actually a fun edit. They built to the big Kyle reveal in...

    Survivor 48 Discussion Thread

I think it was seen as a somewhat boring and straight forward series of votes, but I still think time will be a bit kinder to it. One good point I saw made was that people felt Eva going on the journey and not needing to win another advantage was a waste of air time. It actually had some impact...

Disney (and others) at the Box Office - Current State of Affairs

Netflix is definitely quantity over quality. If one doesn't like something there's always 50 other things in their queue. It's still cheap enough that watching one or two shows/movies a week is decent value. Compared to renting a digital movie at least. Disney+ may do well with a focus on...

SPOILERS: Star Wars' ANDOR Seasons 1 & 2

Makes we wish the series had a text crawl between each story arc. Since they followed the movie format of doing concise stories separated by a year gap, a text crawl (but not a crawl) could have briefly explained what has happened during that time.
