Universal To Increase Spending By 25% in 2013

Raytheon developed the "Sum of All Thrills", not KUKA Robotics. Here is Raytheon's public release on SoAT: http://www.raytheon.com/responsibility/community/mmu/Initiatives/sum/index.html. And here is one of the supporting patents for the KUKA arm technology that is currently exclusively...

They should build a Disney park in Ohio!

    Disney Develops New "Floating Omnimover"

This is a Disney patent application that published through the USPTO 18 months after the date of filing. I check regularly to see what Disney, Universal, and other members of IAAPA are doing.

    Disney Develops New "Floating Omnimover"

Disney has developed a "floating omnimover." Disney summarizes the new ride technology as: The inventors recognized that one potential way to create a new and very different omnimover ride would be to create a floating or water-based omnimover ride. With that concept or idea in mind, the...

    "Portal" idea

I like the idea. It would give a larger sense of community to the collective being of all the parks. Imagine if they had even larger screens to present during shows and they could have video streaming of fireworks going off in WDW while a parade is going in DL. That would look pretty neat. Good...

Have YOU spotted a MagicBand recently?

Tubas couldn't hear you but the trumpets could and they said you are very SHARP!

Will Carnival Cruise Incident Affect Disney Cruise Line?

Will the bad publicity of the Carnival Triumph Cruise spill over onto the Disney Cruise Line? In other words, will this paint such a bad picture of cruises that the entire industry will feel it? Or could this have the effect of driving customers away from Carnival and toward Disney? Or will...

Universal To Increase Spending By 25% in 2013

Universal is doing everything right that Disney should be doing. They are just simply putting the money into developing their parks. I SUPER hope that Universal uses the KUKA arm for other rides. It is by far the best ride technology to have come out in the last decade.

Universal To Increase Spending By 25% in 2013

Not really. Universal is expanding to develop more ride technologies and effects. HP Forbidden Journey ride uses the KUKA arm, which I now hope that Disney would have snagged up for any future Star Wars rides for the new movies (but Universal has the exclusive rights to it for a long time). So...

Limited Time Magic: Is this Working?

The "Magic" in any Disney park is never "Limited"... the collective atmosphere and attitude of all employees of the parks has been and should continue being that the Magic is always there and can be created anytime and anywhere, even by the simple act of holding the hand of a lost child. Wrong...

I may have crossed the line...Oops

I play Disney CDs in the car with my daughter like 10 million other parents. The first thing I fell in love with that was Disney was the music coming out of movies and theme parks. This is when I was a kid and knew little about Disney but I had gobs of CDs. I taught myself piano through Disney...

VIDEO - 'The Land of Oz Garden' is now open at Epcot

Looks like fun for the kiddos but I was hoping to see Oz not Kansas. Themed lands of fantastical imagination like Munchkinland are always better than a carnival (psst! same logic applies to DCA!).

    Haunted Mansion restaurant and shop...............

Haunted Mansion is my favorite! It has the best special effects. I love it. And I love the jack skeleton "coffin cake." If they had a HM restaurant, I would go to it for every meal, every day I was there! Great idea. The servers could act a little "off" and say funny stuff like "I have to inform...

What is Next for Disney for 2013-2019?

Yeah, that seems like a pretty long time frame. I wonder if Disney is going into super secret mode on new projects, an effect of the increased competition from IoA. Giving CMs misinformation would be a good tactic if that is the case. But if it is true, well maybe they can get the monkeys and...

    Universal Creative Forum?

Awesome, thanks for the replies everyone. Glad to know that it is okay to post Universal stuff too. Didn't want to start clogging up the forum with unwanted content. And I'm glad to hear that so many think of "imagineering" as a process that can exist outside of Disney. Cause I'm a big fan of...

    Universal Creative Forum?

Would anyone be interested in a Universal Creative forum? They are the equivalent of Disney's Imagineering for Universal (even have former Imagineers working there now) and develop/design exciting ride technologies, effects, layouts, stories, etc. like those for HP and the Forbidden Journey...

    Disney Needs More For Boys!

I like the Merida perspective of not wanting to get married. Maybe Disney could make a classic princess movie from the perspective of an "unenthusiastic" prince. Maybe a prince that wants to leave his fairy tale story of getting married to join a seafaring ship of adventure! Then it can become...

It's a Digital World After All

Everything is becoming more digital. If Apple can go from computers to phones, they could be making iCars and iHomes in the next fifty years (how kewl would that be to have a home that talks to you? "Siri, where is my cat? ... "Your cat is in your bedroom, destroying your one-of-a-kind, upside...
