    Idea for PeopleMover

I think that would be kinda cool. But would it make me a drink and brief me on my mission?

Disney seeks to patent live action role playing for parks

This seems to be a running theme now with the Disney Co. - seeking patents for stuff that is already out there. It's like the Disney attorneys all got together and someone said "hey, I really miss the good old days of litigation, anyone got any ideas about how we can get ourselves back into the...

    Let's Write A Letter

Hey, sorry to be such a downer about all this. It really sucks that it is this way. Didn't use to be like this. Walt would have loved your idea and would have gone with it. He didn't get all bent out of shape about IP. He often encouraged people to patent their inventions! Can you imagine...

    Let's Write A Letter

They won't request anything from anyone outside the company. I've already spoken to a Disney attorney about this. Disney uses the enterprise model of generating/securing ideas and IP only "as needed", and only internally or with established vendors, and they do not seek ideas, inventions, etc...

Disney seeks to patent live action role playing for parks

I don't think this is my cup of tea but I would probably be pretty entertained to see a CM sword fighting with a guest that wants to be a pirate for a day... and probably be even more entertained to see a CM sword fighting with a guest that has been mistaken by the system for wanting to be a...

Disney seeks to patent live action role playing for parks

They should call this "Cool Dad 3000" and sell them at Target.

    "Inverted Simulation Attraction" for Disney?

Yes, this is not a Disney patent but like KUKA arm it could go for exclusive licensing (for Disney or Universal for that matter). I get these patents as second hand information and my intention is just to post them here to get them out in the open, get some discussion. And while there are a good...

    "Inverted Simulation Attraction" for Disney?

Ride & Show Engineering in California has developed a new ride vehicle for dark rides, shown below, "The present invention relates generally to the field of amusement rides wherein patrons seated in cars are moved along a track, the cars are suspended from the track, and the car is pointed in...

Pixie Hollow To Replace Swiss Family Treehouse?

I agree. While probably not every classic Disney movie should be remade, SFR could find a nice niche among family audiences. It would actually be super interesting if they made it as a sort of spinoff from POTC.

    Oz

Yes, you are totally right. I just learned that Congress extended copyrights from 75 years to 95. So Wizard of Oz was scheduled to be up in 2014 but now they have until 2034! And I think Sweet Melissa posted in here about how they changed the Baum's sliver slippers to red because they wanted the...

    Oz

It was better than the critics give it credit for but they all probably set the bar pretty high. I can see that they will have plenty of room for another one - just noticed some little details. You can read below if you don't mind a couple spoilers or if you have already seen the movie...

New Omnitable patent - possible CoP replacement?

Good point. Actually, it reminds me of a lot of Disney rides. Not sure what is so unique about it at first glance. I'll have to read more.

Nice, and I never thought another 5 seconds or less Titanic clip could steal my heart away from this: ;)

New Monsters Inc ride system patent...Shanghai only?

Thanks for patent link. It's very interesting. I'm curious what the source is for this being used for Monsters Inc. Patents are legal protections so they are always as broad as the applicant can make them. And this patent app does a good job of saying this could be used for just about anything...

    Star Wars VII Cast Announcements

I don't get out much... no, I'm just kidding. I just find it super interesting that they are bringing the old gang back. I am actually really surprised. I mean, they might as well just go all the way and shock the hell out of everyone by putting Fisher back in her slave outfit. They could play...

    Oz

That's just one little element of the movie. There are still a lot of surprises to be seen like when the old wizard's prophesy is revealed that the Wicked Witch of the West will have a daughter only to be taken from her and sent to the land of Kansas to live on a farm with a fake aunt! And her...

    "Tragic Kingdom" report?

Oz will have its laughs here and there with little peaks of interest, intensity, and curiosity, but I don't get the feeling it will be the type of movie that people will walk out of in awe. But it will do.

    "Tragic Kingdom" report?

IMHO, I don't think that NextGen will fail. It all depends on what you define as fail though but Disney will get it to work on some functional level, it will give them a wealth of data, and marketing will excel from data mining. Just like most things, there will be a spectrum for how people...

    Future Imagineer's Brainstorm Sessions

Hilarious! Check out Jay Leno's "Jaywalking" on youtube or nbc.com. Same process and results. I like how he fakes being the Prime Minister. HEEEY!!!
