USF had all the charm of an abandoned office park the last time I was there (though it had some fantastic attractions). Looks like that's about to change in a big way. Hopefully Disney will feel the need to fight back sooner rather than later and we'll have a full blown theme park arms race on...

I think the most likely explanation for the lengthy downtime is that they want to reuse as much of the existing theater as possible. DAK is all about conservation and recycling is an important part of that. (Also, it saves money.)

The Disney side of the negotiations with Cameron undoubtedly knew the Lucas deal was in the works (it may have given them extra leverage and may account for the sudden turnaround). So, I doubt this would change things. Also, in my opinion, Pandora fits better overall into DAK better than any...

I'm guessing the RDA side will be seen more in any shops or restaurants (giving an easy explanation for their human scale). I'm imagining a shop modeled after the AVATAR lab where they'll do face painting and face scanning for custom pictures and figures of guests as AVATARs.

There have been vague rumors around the park of a cut down "street performance" of FotLK running while they're "between theaters" (with singers and dancers but no specialty performers). Frankly, it isn't a rumor I've heard super recently, but it could explain why they're auditioning for singers...

Yeah and DHS doesn't have anything even resembling a water ride. That just seems absurd in central Florida. Come to think of it, USF doesn't have any either. What is it about movie-based parks in Florida and not having water rides?

After walking around the FLE I was struck by just how bad Pan and IaSW look from the outside (much more than usual) and the detail going into this area will certainly not help that. Hopefully, they'll get a facelift soon.

At "ground level" things are still proceeding as if construction will get underway next year (with FotLK shutting down early next year and new character greeting areas getting ready). Maybe Pandora isn't as doomed as people think.
