2015: The year of the EPCOT makeover?

Just to clarify, I think the ratio of complaints to praise about DLRP is presently way skewed in the wrong direction

2015: The year of the EPCOT makeover?

I haven't fully reviewed it yet, but I didn't care for it that much. The mini land is amazing. The ride isn't. I love Disneyland Paris, and I really don't want to disparage a place that gets unfairly disparaged too much...but it's not as good as it should be.

Trip Report We can sleep when we get home...We're at Disney without the kid!

Nice to meet you and thanks for the kind words. Although I don't know about it being like meeting a celebrity...unless your bar is really low! ;)

Based on your signature, I'm assuming you're coming from Anaheim, in which case I'd recommend checking out Yosemite. It's a slightly longer drive, but it's one of the most breathtaking places you'll ever see. If you do stick with Red Rock Canyon, maybe make a side trip to Joshua Tree on the way...

I'm really envious of that! When I was really young, on our annual trips to Florida my grandparents would take us out looking for manatees (not sure where now), and we only ever saw a couple. I became obsessed with them, getting books about manatees, drawing manatees, etc. I've still never seen...

Exactly. In my experience, the core National Parks (not National Historic Monuments, National Forests, etc.--there are only 59 National Parks) each have at least one distinct draw, defining feature, or unique characteristic that really makes them captivating. It's not even close to the same as...

    A Spirited Perfect Ten

If you were to reduce it to its core, I think that's an apt description. The problem lies in the differences in execution between the two. Obviously, guests experiencing both attractions know that they are looking at screens, but the difference (I think) in Spider-Man is that, while the action...

Oh, and while I'm here and since this thread has a good audience, I want to plug something: America's National Parks. For all of you disillusioned with Disney or wanting to try something new, just pick a park. Not only will an inter-agency (read: every park/area with 'National' in the name)...

For you, @BrianLo & @the.dreamfinder (I think that's everyone who asked about the Ratatouille ride): Uh...eh...it's fine. If I had never done a trackless dark ride or had never done a 3D attraction, I'd probably be impressed. But I have, and I wasn't. The concept was sound and there are some...

Ha, I've also encountered plenty of families that aren't exactly into being inundated by Disney. Whether that be staying in a 'Disneyfied' hotel room or even eating on site. A big part of that mis-impression is the result of Disney's own marketing efforts, reflecting places wherein you'll always...

    A Spirited Perfect Ten

Are those potential guests typically people with or without kids? We receive the same type of questioning from our friends, but they are all generally childless. You're right in that it's still a limited market (and one that is missing out on some of the 'whales' of vacationing), but...

Apologies. I struggle with so much, and this just seems to be one of those things. You're entirely right, and no matter how many hours per day you spend talkin' Disney, you have moral superiority to me. Sorry I tried to suggest otherwise. Us meek lifestylers sometimes try to do that, but it...

    A Spirited Perfect Ten

It depends upon the week. Some weeks I'm camping at Yosemite with no cell service, some I'm in a random city in Asia trying to figure out the rails, some I'm geeking out at a D23 event. If the latter is the case, I'd need an exorcist to remove the Disney from me--and I'll willingly admit that...

    A Spirited Perfect Ten

While this post, in isolation, is "very little commitment" for you, how many little commitment posts like this from you are there? I'm not denying I'm a lifestyler. By virtually almost any definition, I am one. Taking out my photo editing and blogging would be incredibly arbitrary, as those...

    A Spirited Perfect Ten

What about the person who has 10,000+ posts on one Disney forum, and visits multiple others, but only vacations at the parks once per year? What if that person spends 4-6 hours per day invested in various elements of Disney fandom? I think the line between 'fan in free time' and 'life consumed...

    A Spirited Perfect Ten

"Lifestylers" seems like a fairly amorphous term, but assuming that we're going with a broader definition that includes not just bloggers like me, but anyone who spends "a lot" of time at the various Disney parks & resorts (I assume the term requires something more than just an online fixation...

Thanks to you and @the.dreamfinder for the congrats! If you think I can 'do it all', well...you should have seen me trying to hobble around Epcot yesterday. I fully intended upon training when I registered eons ago, but it's been a busy few months. I would have dropped the race, but for the...

Prices for the Polynesian DVC Bungalows

I don't have the points for a stay there, as we only have a small contract purchased a while ago via resale. I won't argue with @ParentsOf4's number crunching, but I think the circumstances in which DVC is a good value--even via resale--are extremely limited if you're accounting for TVM (and...
