News New DAS System at Walt Disney World 2024

While that’s fair, rider switch is functionally the same as DAS for the disabled person. The only people who can’t be appropriately served by it are those with developmental abilities so severe that they can’t understand or tolerate their party being separated for a ride.

Rider switch will, though. You still get to skip the line.

News New DAS System at Walt Disney World 2024

I think it’s fine that they are eliminating DAS access for nearly everyone. Very few conditions can’t be served appropriately by something less generous.

On the one hand, sure, those kids are probably full of it. Or at least exaggerating to get something they didn't really need. And even if they weren't exaggerating, the new accommodations should serve them just fine rather than the DAS. On the other, I don't think you have a very good grasp on...

News New DAS System at Walt Disney World 2024

I've seen some posted elsewhere. It seems to be a hybrid of the new rules and old rules. For instance, you call in now for a trip that starts on May 21, and you're still getting the same old screening you had been getting. But the pass is only good for the length of your ticket, you don't get...

Fair enough. My point was just that TRON might not be the best example of how people with any condition that is triggered or exacerbated by heat/sun should just work around it, because you often don't have an option of when you are going to get in line for it.

News New DAS System at Walt Disney World 2024

I don't think anyone who legitimately needs accommodations will be left without appropriate accommodations.

News New DAS System at Walt Disney World 2024

Since TRON is on the virtual queue, that one might not be the best example. Someone who has a heart condition that triggers an arrythmia when they get overheated, for instance, might be best served trying to experience that attraction at night, or in the morning. But you don't get much of a...

News New DAS System at Walt Disney World 2024

Maybe so. Even if every single one of them buys Genie+ (considering Disney allows that man Genie+ passes to be bought that day), Disney still controls exactly how many lightning lane passes are allowed to be snapped up for each ride, every single hour. You can't break the queueing system that...

News New DAS System at Walt Disney World 2024

I doubt the majority would. But even if they did, Disney controls how many lightning lane passes are distributed through G+ and ILL, and they control how many G+ passes are sold per day. It’s not possible to overwhelm the system. It’s only possible to disappoint their guests by either not...

I came here to do two things, chew bubblegum and pound rides. And I’m all out of gum.

News New DAS System at Walt Disney World 2024

You didn’t do anything wrong and I don’t think anyone outside of a small subset of people would think you did. Nobody should feel bad about doing the things that Disney encouraged. Any issues that arose from it are the fault of Disney and the people who deliberately took advantage. If you...

News New DAS System at Walt Disney World 2024

I don’t think it’s just those people and I don’t think Disney’s hand was forced. I personally know multiple people who have been on the DAS. It was so absurdly easy to do. Which is great that disabled people were treated so well, but it’s not like they had no options in front of them to make...

I’d be okay with just the people bragging about how to cheat the DAS system on social media.

I wonder how many people will try to “return to lines” that they were never in.

News New DAS System at Walt Disney World 2024

The cynical side of me says the they probably want to have leaving the line available as an option they have offered just to protect from lawsuits, but they’d rather it not seem like an easy or comfortable thing to do.

To be clear, they aren’t using that wording. What we have seen posted in this thread is effectively a game of telephone. Something was relayed to the CM’s. That was relayed to Len. That’s now being relayed to us. Specific wording is likely to have changed.

News New DAS System at Walt Disney World 2024

I would be surprised if they are truly trying to determine how mild your autism is, rather than make a judgment based on how you described your condition affects your ability to stand in line. If you just say “I’m on the spectrum”, even if that’s true, it’s not going to qualify for anything on...

News New DAS System at Walt Disney World 2024

So it sounds like the first layer is the CM’s, who are basically there to find out if your claimed disability even meets the qualifying criteria (autism, etc) and then turn away everyone else who doesn’t. And if they do have a qualifying disability, the next phase is dealing with an actual...
