    World Drive Phase-III

Roundabouts have been a success even to the good ol boys in Jawjuh (Georgia for those not from my part of the country) and have reduced accidents at many previously problematic intersections. I can agree that they’re not the end all be all though.

    News Walter E. Disney overhaul

So use a coupler that can handle a “push” better? I’d think couplers on “normal” trains are designed for such use, but maybe “normal” railroads just accept the extra wear? I’m a very part time train enthusiast, so bear with me haha

    Rumor New Monorails Coming Soon?

Oh, it’s definitely possible. I just personally don’t like full automation for some applications is all, and I could see several reasons why Disney chose to keep pilots on board.

    Rumor New Monorails Coming Soon?

Or just good old common sense? I’m at my limits of my understanding of the system, so who knows why they decided what they decided. Computers are very capable but not infallible….for example, as mentioned above, Teslas are insane as far as what they can do, but you also hear about crazy...

    Rumor New Monorails Coming Soon?

I’m just relaying what was told to me by a guy that “drives” the thing. We were boarding monorail red in the Contemporary when they were on a “station hold” or whatever they called it. They were stuck in the station due to a backup further down the line or something like that. Anyways, my son...

    Rumor New Monorails Coming Soon?

From a conversation I had with a pilots few years ago, my understanding is that it’s capable of running fully automatically, but that pilots are present to supervise the computer as it were, and to take over in case of a malfunction. I assume they still have to run manually a certain percentage...

What would it take for you to NOT go back?

Cost/value/crowds. I have a hard time justifying spending certain amounts of money on a single trip, and we were pushing that limit with our last trip in April. That being said, we always leave feeling like we got the value for the money we spent. But now I worry that value is decreasing due...

    Construction between Contemporary and TTC

I don’t know speeds of either incident. But after seeing more pictures on Facebook of the I-16 incident, it was a large dump truck, not what you would routinely see around town, and it ended up being loaded with large tires. It was a heck of a hit for sure!

    Construction between Contemporary and TTC

I’d guess the dump truck was a mechanical failure of some sort, or a failure to lock the dump bed if that’s a thing. Completely different situation than the monorail guard though. For what it’s worth, I’d bet the monorail guard would likely catch MOST issues where it’s set up….a vac boom for...

    Construction between Contemporary and TTC

We have a low overpass that supports a couple of train tracks, and it’s hit several times a year. Slap a new beam in there and call it a day. We had a bridge over an interstate struck by a dump truck a few years ago where I live, looks like the same thing that happened on I-16. We only had...

    Construction between Contemporary and TTC

Lots of things are secured only by the weight of the structural members. Lots of concrete parking garages and bridges for instance.

News PHOTOS - Cinderella Castle at the Magic Kingdom to receive enhancements this summer

I think they’re referring to the fact that it looks like my 3 year old climbed up there and slapped some purple stripes in the roof. It’s pretty crazy how they look nice and clean from ground level haha
