‘We’re putting people who are visiting Disney in danger.’ Firefighters say they are short-handed at theme park

The evidence has been presented and explained in depth, so I’ll just respectfully agree to disagree.

‘We’re putting people who are visiting Disney in danger.’ Firefighters say they are short-handed at theme park

I don’t have access to RCID’s data, but “in the industry”, a call is where someone goes to help someone, whether it’s a fire, a medical, or a cat in the tree (yes, that really happens). A call doesn’t refer to how many times a phone rings in the dispatch center. For example, a single call...

‘We’re putting people who are visiting Disney in danger.’ Firefighters say they are short-handed at theme park

Just to clarify, you’re saying if they started billing call volume would decrease because people wouldn’t want to pay for a ride? If so, that’s not true. The service I used to work for constantly has most of their units in the street. These days, they usually have all of their units in the...

‘We’re putting people who are visiting Disney in danger.’ Firefighters say they are short-handed at theme park

I can show you a CAD screen that would make you think 3.42 calls per hour is a very low estimation.

‘We’re putting people who are visiting Disney in danger.’ Firefighters say they are short-handed at theme park

With all due respect, you’re way off base. The idea that people at a theme park are any different than the people outside a theme park is so far in left field that it might as well be on Mars. I would agree that WDW has fewer homeless than most cities, but how does that factor into the...

Yeah, that seems like overkill, but there also seems to be a reason for it, even if it’s no longer a valid reason 🤷🏻‍♂️

‘We’re putting people who are visiting Disney in danger.’ Firefighters say they are short-handed at theme park

I wonder if the patient is billed if a mutual aid service transports from WDW property? If so, I wonder if WDW picks up the bill?

‘We’re putting people who are visiting Disney in danger.’ Firefighters say they are short-handed at theme park

How are people at a theme park any different than what they were before they crossed an invisible boundary line? People are people, and the fact is that there are hundreds of thousands of people in the district every day, and their needs don’t change depending on what side of the boundary line...

‘We’re putting people who are visiting Disney in danger.’ Firefighters say they are short-handed at theme park

I can do one better than that. Say you’re rear ended at a stoplight and a passerby calls 911. An ambulance shows up and you refuse any treatment or transport. A couple weeks later you get a bill even though you weren’t injured and you didn’t call for an ambulance. I know of a service that...

Charging for calls won’t change a thing. If you don’t believe me, ask any EMT that works for a 911 service 😝

‘We’re putting people who are visiting Disney in danger.’ Firefighters say they are short-handed at theme park

I’ve worked in the business for approaching two decades with various roles including fire, EMS, dispatch, tech rescue and more. You don’t need insight into management and such to see that there are issues as long as you know what you’re looking at. It’s crazy to me that so many people fuss...

‘We’re putting people who are visiting Disney in danger.’ Firefighters say they are short-handed at theme park

A cardiac arrest is a daily occurring event all over the world. And waiting that long for a “routine” event is inexcusable, especially when you’re talking about a real person.

It comes down to do you want the job done right, or are you happy with mediocrity? I’m betting if you’re the one in need, you likely want things done correctly. IMO, it’s sad that a company with the resources available to Disney can’t handle basic needs such as fire/emergency medical...

‘We’re putting people who are visiting Disney in danger.’ Firefighters say they are short-handed at theme park

Had there been a fire in the castle as was initially reported, it could’ve been a disaster. If there’s a fire in any one of the many high or mid rises, it’s going to be a disaster. If the Skyliner has an issue, it’s going to be a disaster. I remember a car fire in one of the parking lots a...

Jealous! It’s normal these days in my neck of the woods to wait an hour + for an ambulance for a medical call, and even then the ambulance may not even include a paramedic.

Yeah, every department does it differently. My department doesn’t run EMS so we rely on a private contractor, and we usually don’t get an ambulance unless there’s a confirmed patient. Other departments send ambulances on fire calls just in case there’s a victim…..or to serve has rehab, or to...

Don’t even get me started on the constantly changing mask recommendations haha. I was just curious why a N95 mask entered into the equation of fire extinguisher use since that’s never been a thing either before or after the pandemic.

Why didn’t you just dump a glass of water on it? 🤣 Dry chem makes a huge mess and gets everywhere. It’s a common occurrence for it to irritate people, especially if they have existing issues.
