Port Orleans: French Quarter or Riverside?

Love them both as well, but there's something very charming about French Quarter due to it's smaller size and replication of New Orleans style architecture. Do the horse and buggy ride between both resorts.

News OBJ Disney Acquires More Land Near Magic Kingdom

This is cool. I love stuff like this. Can you see this home on Google Earth?

What kind of discounts will we expect starting Mid July?

I'd have to say that yes it's a big savings, but the last time we got the free dining, we felt it was way too much food for us, based on the way we eat. We also felt like we based all of our plans around meals so much that we didn't enjoy them. Personally, for the way my family travels and the...

Too much money and not worth it..

I still think Disney - the food, the hotels, the park tickets - are worth what you're paying. No, it isn't cheap. But, seriously...I don't know what is. I've made these comments here before and when I think about what I pay at my local Six Flags for a bottle of water and lousy food, I'm doing so...

Does anyone NOT like Flight of Passage?

Big fan of the ride, the queue...the whole thing. Needs to be noted that my Dad loved it - he's in his 70's - but it sent him to the First Aid station. Right afterwards, we were sitting in the cantina and his heart was racing. His equilibrium was off. He wasn't right for a few hours. He loves...

    3 Parks in 1 Day?

I did all 4 parks in one day. I was there for MouseFest years ago. In addition to taking in some of the MouseFest meetups, I made sure to experience one attraction in each park to make it legit. Started the morning in Animal Kingdom - Dinosaur, Nemo and lunch at Flame Tree. Over to Studios -...

    Is Disney really that expensive?

Well said. I watch people spending fortunes going to places that I would never even consider going and I'm quite sure they think the same thing about me and my Disney trips, ski vacations and Dead shows.

    Is Disney really that expensive?

Those are fair observations indeed. I have a U2 at Nassau Coliseum concert stub from high school that says $16.50 on it. That's a major venue here in NY. Last time I saw U2 a year or so ago it was over $100. Last Dead show I went to was $150. I have dozens of $20 ticket stubs from back in the...

    Is Disney really that expensive?

Does that mean you agree with me or not? Everything on Cape Cod - unless I wanted a cheap motel on the main road - was around $300-$400 per night. I'm paying $250 per night for my stay at Riverside in September. Last summer we paid around $350 for The Yacht Club with a summer room-only deal...

    Is Disney really that expensive?

OK. I just disagree with everything you said. So, I'm just going to leave it at that. I don't subscribe to Disney PR. This is how I feel and I'm pretty well traveled and pretty well researched.

    Is Disney really that expensive?

I'm trying extremely hard to find a resort that gives me as much bang for my buck, believe me. I've stayed at Universal and while they do a nice job with their amenities, I don't think it's up to par with Disney's resorts. There's an inherent difference that I still think exists on property that...

    Is Disney really that expensive?

I think it's impossible to compare Disney hotels to whatever the market rate is. They don't compare. If I figure in the free transportation to and from the airport, free and very consistent bus, boat and monorail transportation around the massive property, multiple pools at most resorts, food...

    Is Disney really that expensive?

I agree with the original post question. I don't think Disney is any more expensive than anything else I do that could be considered similar; theme parks, water parks, ski resorts, beach vacations, etc. I especially think when it comes to hotels, Disney is a great buy when you compare it to...

Are the Minnie Vans convenient to arrive to the parks early?

I can't vouch for the morning or for the route you want, but I have to say that on a recent trip, our plans were to make it back from Animal Kingdom to our resort, Yacht Club with enough time to walk or take the boat to the Studios to catch the Star Wars Spectacular. We got seriously delayed for...

    The Grand Floridian worth it?

Never stayed there but have been many times for meals, and each time we're there, we always say...we have no interest in staying there. Love the architecture. It just feels too sterile and fancy for us. We're lucky enough to be able to splurge for the Yacht Club just about each trip for the last...

Peter Pan or Big Thunder as a 4th FastPass?

I'm going to go against the grain here and say get a Peter Pan FastPass if you can. If you don't get to Peter Pan first thing in the morning or have a FastPass you can forget it. The line gets huge and stays that way all day. Go check out Big Thunder during the fireworks and the line usually...

Is Yacht/Beach Club twice as nice as POR?

In my opinion, Riverside is the nicest Moderate and in some instances I'd rather stay there than some Deluxes...but not the Yacht Club. Totally worth the upgrade for the room size, balcony, walk to Epcot, Stormalong Bay and access to the BoardWalk.

News Swan and Dolphin Tower Expansion - The Walt Disney World Swan Reserve

I adore staying at the Yacht Club - the only negative I can ever find is seeing the Swan and Dolphin intrude on the view and the BoardWalk theme. Couldn't imagine they could make that one negative more negative.

    Is Boardwalk Worth It?

The BoardWalk is certainly Deluxe and feels like it, but my family and the family we were traveling with both said that after staying there once, we wouldn't return. I know people love it there, but here's our experience: - Didn't like having to leave the building just to get a quick bite or to...
