That’s exactly what I had been hoping for years before this recent announcement. A small recreation of the Disney Studios that leads into Toontown. Sort of creating a world where the toons live and can go to work.
Though just because I hope for something, doesn’t mean it will happen. Usually it...
I think most people would. It would even naturally transition into the new studio courtyard, as this would be where the toons would “go to work”. It’s a shame Toy Story Land is where it is cause that would be the perfect plot of land.
Wait what???? I must’ve walked by here several times without noticing it (after already being obsessed with the sign).
Edit: I totally do remember this area being called “Mickey Avenue” and I do kind of remember seeing a version of the classic sign that looked a bit off…which this would fit the...
Listen…I’m pretty happy, and I’m rarely positive about any of their announcements these days. Are they going to take it as far as they should (complete with a Reluctant Dragon style studio tour dark ride)? No. But it’s at least a step in the right direction.
If something is planned in Phases, everything after “phase 1” almost never happens. Remember the Radiator Springs “phase 2” in this park? How about “phase 2” of the Epcot overhaul? The people planning these things seem to not understand that almost everything in the parks has a sense of...
Based on the slack leak, they didn’t start active development until around early 2022. A lot of the same people are still working for the company (though a lot of the props, figures, and landscaping for that ride was outsourced).
I have a hard time buying that it’s a placeholder as well. However… I could see them building off of this ‘land’ with one or two more substantial attractions. Theming the area to the Studio in Burbank gives them a lot of avenues to go. It’s always going to have appeal and you’re always going to...
I hope it’s done well and I hope it lasts. Unlike many others, I actually see this as a major win (shocking given my recent attitudes towards most projects). They needed to put the Disney Studios back in Disney Hollywood Studios, and this seems to be doing just that.
