    RIP Terry Bollea (Hulk Hogan)

Is there a Disney Tie-in I am not aware of…. Otherwise this should be posted under the general TV news threads

Universal Epic Universe (South Expansion Complex) - Now Open!

Universal apparently needs all rides to have a thrill factor at all times… even slow moving dark rides… let’s bring on the thrill… really chaos in disguise…. As someone who grew up on rides like Haunted Mansion and Pirates….my biggest jaw dropping theme park moments are those when I can slow...

Disney (and others) at the Box Office - Current State of Affairs

It is being reported that.F4 did 24.4 million in previews…. For the record… that is about 2 million more than Superman did…. And that included about 2 million in special fan screenings

Disney (and others) at the Box Office - Current State of Affairs

In response to people nerding out over pop culture fandoms…. It seems those people only need out for whatever they are nostalgic for…. It is the same reasons studios keep looking towards the past for films to greenlit Avatar is interesting…. For most of the year people say no one cares about...

Disney (and others) at the Box Office - Current State of Affairs

Also I don’t know if Halloween Costumes was ever a tell tale sign of popularity of a franchise…. I don’t recall seeing a ton of Marty McFly costumes in the 80’s

Disney (and others) at the Box Office - Current State of Affairs

So much for Horror being the hot genre right now…. I know What You Did Last Summer most optimistic gauge is 14 million this weekend…It will turn a profit thanks to it’s small 18 million budget… there will always be Horror movies… as they seem to keep the budgets lower then most other genre’s…...

Disney (and others) at the Box Office - Current State of Affairs

Ahhh…. The 90 + degree weather we have had this summer… I would rather be inside a movie theater…. And people say global warming is not a thing…. We have never seen such consistent days of a heat wave

Disney (and others) at the Box Office - Current State of Affairs

Wicked for Good is not getting there… the first Wicked grossed 786…. The domestic made over double what the international numbers did.., it seems much like Superman the rest of the world is not here for Wicked

Disney (and others) at the Box Office - Current State of Affairs

I get the point…. We live in very different times now…. In the 80’sand 90”s it still took more effort then it does now to rent/buy a movie…Currently it is as easy as a click of the button…. There are much less peopke going to the movies today… with many opting to wait till they drop on VOD… I...

Disney (and others) at the Box Office - Current State of Affairs

Wow….I had no idea you worked for Disney and know what each film is making via VOD, Ads on that tier of streaming, listening etc…

    Nielsen Streaming Ratings

Nice to see Andor still in the top 10…. That certainly was a win for Disney… especially after Roque One got increased eyeballs afterwards as well

Disney (and others) at the Box Office - Current State of Affairs

That’s my standard for profits theatrically…. There is more nuanced then that of course with backend deals such as VOD and licensing… but most of us don’t Know those figures… although we can see the results at the end of the year from Deadline…. Which are an insider trade outlet and are...

Disney (and others) at the Box Office - Current State of Affairs

Ahhh… not really… people want to say movies are 3.x the budget for Disney…. Brave New World had a 180 budget… many said it’s break even was 420… but the all Disney movies fail crowd said it needed more… granted those figures usually come from one poster who does not even care for movies later...

Disney (and others) at the Box Office - Current State of Affairs

I believe @FrontierSpirit was closer The break even should be 2 and 1/2 times its budget….that is with adding marketing which is usually roughly half the production…although I would guess the marketing spend is more here…, Superman is being pushed everywhere…. Plus the theaters keep roughly...

Disney (and others) at the Box Office - Current State of Affairs

See @CoastalElite64 list… I had Get Out and Avatar in mind with my response I would still count Barbie…. I don’t agree the feminist message was hidden at least in my mind…. Still for arguments sake will say it was… everybody knew it was there after opening weekend…. And that film had legs Also...

Disney (and others) at the Box Office - Current State of Affairs

I disagree…. I think Gunn’s comments was deliberate and smart…. Touch on a hot button issue….get butts in the door… and if people enjoy it…. Word of mouth will do the rest.,,How many times have we heard people had no idea a film was released… well everyone knows Superman arrives this weekend… I...

Disney (and others) at the Box Office - Current State of Affairs

Superman being an immigrant is not new…it has been there from the beginning…. What is new is that we can’t discuss how important immigration was to the USA without ruffling feathers Sorry you’re upset that sometimes a woman is a lead character in Star Wars….You know what is next on deck for...

Disney (and others) at the Box Office - Current State of Affairs

Any good writer writes what they know…. I which is putting at least a little of themselves into the work of art… it is human nature… something gives them inspiration ….Gunn’s comments may be having an opposite reaction…. Could have been a smart marketing move… feels like Superman is all...
