Do you think that Disney world will reclose its gates due to the rising number of COVID cases in Florida and around the country?

Yeah. Capacity generally looks fairly "normal". Not saying that people may not be being hospitalized for COVID or that hospitalizations may not be increasing. Just saying that -- so far -- generally the hospitals in Florida don't appear to be overwhelmed and look to be managing well. Which is...

Current Hospital Capacity in Florida as of today: https://bi.ahca.myflorida.com/t/ABICC/views/Public/HospitalBedsCounty?:isGuestRedirectFromVizportal=y&:embed=y Both Hillsboro and Pinellas counties have about 20% capacity available as of 1:15pm today. ICU Capacity at about 18% and 12%...

    Top 5 Restaurants at WDW

    1. Jikos 2. California Grill 3. The Yachtsman Steakhouse 4. Skipper Canteen 5. Olivia's (although haven't been in quite a while) Used to love lots of restaurants at Epcot but, sadly, they've gone very much downhill. Skippers Canteen was surprisingly good- lots of flavor and fun. My favorite...

Coronavirus and Walt Disney World general discussion

The delay there was largely forced by the state though, and they’ve said they‘d provide the new opening date after the state issues new guidance (Which is supposed to be after July 4)

Coronavirus and Walt Disney World general discussion

Just for clarity, the vast majority of the ICU beds are occupied by non-covid cases. Currently there is still sufficient capacity to handle a surge of cases, based on the current numbers and trends. That said, however, this is the primary data point I worry about. If we start seeing...

Coronavirus and Walt Disney World general discussion

Yes there are more people in the hospital for the 31 year age range of 18-49 as opposed to the 15 year age range of 50-64. However the number of both of those have been decreasing (using this same data). Of course if you use the totals, then the cohort 50+ still represents 64% of those...

Coronavirus and Walt Disney World general discussion

To be clear, even granting the cohort numbers you cite, the hospitalization data looks like this overall- The point being made is that the overall curve of hospitalization is not not increasing as yet regardless of the increase in overall cases. That, coupled with other news such as...

Coronavirus and Walt Disney World general discussion

Sorry- I was addressing your blanket statement that as long "as their were new cases". But even if there is a vaccine, we do not know if it will be similar to the flu vaccine in that it may protect you only for specific strains. There's already indications that there may be multiple mutations...

Coronavirus and Walt Disney World general discussion

This is here for quite some time. At the moment, there is neither herd immunity nor a vaccine. In your lifetime, Polio was a serious concern. It didn't get a vaccine until 1952 and still had new cases in the US in 1961, and that was with mandatory inoculations; It wasn't eliminated in the...

News Disney Lakeshore Lodge (Project 89 - Development near Fort Wilderness)

Correction: they didn't release it on any format (other than some clips) except in theaters in the USA. It did get released in its entirety in Europe and Asia on VHS and Laserdisc from 1983 through 2000.

Yeah, the real issue is lack of consistency across the board-- from the country to the state to the federal level.

Coronavirus and Walt Disney World general discussion

The state lists antibody testing separately. I wasn't trying to imply that the data we're collecting is the best. But bear in mind that the data that she's using is the same data the state uses. I'm not sure how she can separate the multiple negative tests without knowing who had the tests...

This is definitely true. The advantage here is it's easier to compare state to state elsewhere.

Coronavirus and Walt Disney World general discussion

I mentioned this earlier-- one really big issue with her data is that she's including antibody tests in her totals for the number of cases, which makes it appear that new cases are increasing; however antibody tests indicate that the person had it in the past and recovered. The state data is...
