Hilton Head or Vero Beach w/ a 5 month old?

I have never stayed at Vero, but have been to Hilton Head. With a 5 month old, I would not worry about entertainment for the baby. It's more about things you can do with him/her that are easily adaptable. If you do want to go to the beach, then I would say Vero Beach, since getting to the...

Wow… Disney with Toddlers is DIFFERENT

That is called having a kid. It pertains not just to WDW, but to life in general when you have kids. I guess when I took my kids to WDW when they were small (not infants, but small) I went in with the same expectations that I had towards my life with kids in general. They are kids, you are...

    Americas 250 year celebration

I always wonder about things like this. I'm not in Marketing, but I am "Marketing tangential" - as in I am in process improvement and program malmanagement, but I work with the Marketing teams (and CX teams and UX teams, etc) I have never once in my life been in the market for a new car, and...

    Man Overboard Incident 6/29/2025

It is a balancing act for sure. I did not want to be a helicopter parent, but neither did I want to take too many risks with my kids. I know that growing up in the 1970s and 1980s we were pretty much left to our own devices - especially in my family. My brother and I now tell my mother things...

    Man Overboard Incident 6/29/2025

All good. You are right, the top lock is about 6' off the ground. My daughter was 11 or 12 at the time. At that age she just worried the heck out of me. She was very adventurous with no sense of self preservation.

Security splitting up families / groups at entrances

This is what was in place when we were there at the end of June. My wife had a tin of Altiods, that set it off (according to the guard "It happens all of the time with Altoids") and my daughters battery pack for phone charging set it off. My wife just ditched the Altiods tin, and my daughter...

    Americas 250 year celebration

I remember the bicentennial - barely, I was 6. But I do remember there being a build up and planning for quite a while beforehand. Maybe because one of my friend's mother was on our local bicentennial committee, but I remember there being planning, and talks, and things like that went on in...

    Man Overboard Incident 6/29/2025

There are chairs and ottomans in the room. She was a very . . . . . ambitious, youngster.

    Man Overboard Incident 6/29/2025

I have been on three Disney cruises with my 2 daughters. All when I was a single parent. The first two times, I had a verandah stateroom. The last cruise, my youngest (who was the own with no sense of self preservation) was now big enough that I worried she could reach the top lock on the...

Wow… Disney with Toddlers is DIFFERENT

I used to know where you could buy underwear and pants in both Magic Kingdom AND Epcot. My kids are a lot older now, and if they for some strange reason needed to, could buy their own underwear. We still laugh about some of the things they did when they were little (that were not quite so...

How does Disney handle ride violators in Living With the Land

My family is pretty much right behind where the camera person was. I was on right (ok starboard) side. What that does not show is that he was all the way in (and under) the water just prior to that clip. None of us had phones or cameras out, since it was about our 100th time though this...

How does Disney handle ride violators in Living With the Land

We seriously thought our boat was going to hit this guy. He pulled himself out of the channel when we were less than 10 feet from him. Maybe not enough to kill him, but at least cause a really bad day for him.

Old Key West (OKW) Studio or Port Orlans French Quarter (POFQ) for Solo Trip?

For a solo trip, Port Orleans over OKW. We just got back from OKW (2 BR and a studio). For trips with the family, we like OKW. We spread out, we eat breakfast in the room, we go out to in-park TS restaurants for dinner. For a solo trip, not so much. As other have said, the QS option at OKW is...

How does Disney handle ride violators in Living With the Land

When somebody gets out of the boat on Living With the Land, how does Disney security deal with it? Last week, on the boat in front of us, a person dropped their cell phone in the water in the tunnel just before you enter the greenhouse. Somebody in their party (a guy) who had on an Aladdin vest...

Disney Vacation Club offering discount for VIP Tours at Walt Disney World

Totally a data point of one, but we just got back from a week in WDW, and I saw more VIP tours going on than ever before. Multiple ones per park per day.

DHS Updated menu coming to The Hollywood Brown Derby

It's not so much WDW, but everywhere else. Too often people pull the allergy card, when they just mean they don't like something (which is a big PIA for the kitchen). It's like telling McDonald's you are on a low salt diet so you need fries with no sale just so you get fresh fries. Or telling...

News California Grill Brings Back Classic Menu Items for 30th Anniversary at Disney World

It is different when your cafe has 20 tables and on a good night you have 15 of them with full dinners. When that happens, having an extra 5 tables of low effort high profit dessert and alcoholic drinks is a good thing. When you are a WDW restaurant that is fully booked, and has a business...

Both scenarios are not a method for success. They need a way to either ensure a minimum bill or a maximum time frame or something along those lines.

News California Grill Brings Back Classic Menu Items for 30th Anniversary at Disney World

I have been to CG dozens of times in the past (with my kids from the time they were 5-ish to the time they were 16-ish)and I never had an issue with kids running around or crowing people. Maybe in recent years it started (which is totally believable) but I haven't been to CG in a dogs age.
