What are the "strange" things you look forward to?

    - strolling around the Poly amid the tiki torches at night - shopping at World of Disney in DtD (since all our Disney Stores near me closed) - seeing the peg-leg pirate's prints on the "rolling gangplank" at PotC - Big Al! - hearing "Promising Tomorrows" - "steam" surrounding the trains on...

    Quick AK question...

I'll be there Saturday and will try to remember to search for it. Pics to follow

Did anyone here go to Walt Disney World in 1971?

Dating myself here... Not exactly a real MK memory, but this is the best I can do. :p I remember living in Wauchula, Fl in 1968. I was four years old. The house was in the middle of an orange grove. My old man's passion was taking in as much spring training baseball as he could afford (not...

    Frigid Weather Hits O-Town

I'm heading down at the end of next week. Even if cold weather remains I get a 25 degree WIN over what I'm dealing with in my little mid-Atlantic burg this week. :sohappy::sohappy::sohappy: And yup, I'm aware of the "humidity makes Orlando extra cold" phenomenon. :snore: Call me selfish, but...

Al Lutz -- Fantasyland budget cuts

I haven't been thrilled in the least about the PH part of expansion. I for one hope it gets the axe.

New Years Resolution Suggestions for WDW

Hear, hear! Dining would work much better if everyone involved had a little skin in the game. A CC deposit would work nicely.

Grouchy CMs low quality standards and other things from our trip...

Hey... waddaya know! By eating a QPC at McDonald's and admiring the exterior of TRex from the back dining room in McD's it sounds like I got the best of both worlds. :p Thanks for these insights on what CMs are going through. It is so easy for many guests to forget that CMs are people. And...

    Farewell, Prince Caspian

Yeesh... that was a lame excuse for an attraction. I hope something else finds its way into that space though.

Just spent 10 days at the World with scooters...

I have come to accept that there will always be ECVs at WDW, and the numbers will only increase as our society ages. That being the case I just try to chill while I'm down there and don't think twice about someone else's ECV. I just thank the good Lord I'm not on one! I get that it steams...

    Longest Queue?

The queue for Peter Pan seems positively eternal to me. I hate standing in that long, slow, hot, boring queue so much that I will only ride Peter Pan if I have FPs.

RnR testing queue-less system that Dumbo's going to use

Thanks! Good news. You'd think after reading the thread I could have gleaned that, but somehow missed it. :p

RnR testing queue-less system that Dumbo's going to use

I'll withhold judgment until/if I get to experience this. But my first thought is that it's going to stink not being able to wander around with my old school FPs. I don't like long queues anymore than the next fellow, but I think I will also dislike being forced to hang out at a block party...

Living With The Land January 2010 Refurb

I'm conditioned not to expect Splash on my January trips. I understand if LwtL goes down too, but it'd be nice to know as I plan for my mid-January trip.

Your biggest WDW change-of-mind, or thought-process reversal

My biggest change of mind is probably the way I tour the parks. Like many who have responded, I used to be very much a commando sort. After a few trips I relaxed a bit and now enjoy WDW even more than I did back then. I think this has something to do with seeing things thru my kids' eyes as...

Your favourite places in The World Showcase?!?!?

So much to like in WS: 1) Puttering around the Japan Pavilion (museum in department store; candy lady) 2) American Pavilion (the atrium is stirring, and I love hearing Voices of Liberty sing) 3) Impressions de France (That movie relaxes me every time)

Anyone else have trouble fitting in the rides?

I'm 6'3" and broad-shouldered. It's always a chore getting my legs into the Space Mountain vehicles. Splash Mountain is similar. I wind up sitting cross-legged on rides like PotC and IASW. I attribute some of my awkwardness to the fact that Im 45 now, and -even though I don't have joint...

    Your 1st Disney Trip

Great memories! I went for the first time in 2000; I was 36. I always wanted to go so badly as a kid, but my folks never could quite swing it. Flash forward a couple of decades and I found myself with my own family. I had not thought about going to WDW until they came along. My wife and I...

    Disney World refurb fails

That's a good point! Aunt Polly's a great place to grab a snack and sit for a while as the kids ran around TSI. Too bad it's gone. SGE is an epic refurb FAIL. Right across the sidewalk, MLF is a huge disappointment IMO as a replacement (not exactly refurb) for Timekeeper. Sure Timekeeper...
