That Wiki budget doesn't include marketing costs, which have likely pushed the budget well over $300 million. If the film drops like 70% next week in the US and drops comparatively worse in overseas markets, $400 million worldwide is off the table. It's not going to match Black Adam's gross...

If I told you six months ago that The Flash would not only bomb but lose more money than Elemental (whose failure was sad but not unexpected, unfortunately), you would think I was mad.

The Flash is projected to finish its worldwide run at under $350 million. $300 million loss likely. Would make it one of the biggest bombs in history.

    Elemental (Pixar - June 2023)

It still opened at like $170 million worldwide. That it's dropping so hard so fast really tells you how much this month is gonna suck.

The Flash looks to open at $130.1 million globally. Black Adam opened at $140 million globally, and that considered was a flop.

    Elemental (Pixar - June 2023)

Transformers is dropping almost 70% on weekend two. The Flash is keeping people away from theaters.

    Elemental (Pixar - June 2023)

I was talking about The Flash and how it likely drove people away from Elemental by keeping them away from cinemas entirely.

That assumes Gunn will get the chance to make that movie. He will absolutely be scapegoated for The Flash's failure even if he had little to do with it. That he's on record hyping up the movie as one of the best doesn't help him.

    Elemental (Pixar - June 2023)

I'm going out on a limb to say that positive word-of-mouth means nothing if the main headliner of the weekend is such a pile of dog crap that it drags the whole slate down with it. Which seems to be what happened here.

News Christine McCarthy to step down from her role as Chief Financial Officer

I think we're starting to see an irreparable rift between Wall Street and artists. Both cannot be right. The question is who comes out on top?

Definitely feels like Iger is getting rid of anyone who supports cost-cutting at the expense of creatives. He really doesn't want to be compared to Zaslav.

    Elemental (Pixar - June 2023)

The thing is the industry is completely flying blind and nobody seems to have an idea on how to deal with the incoming demise of linear TV and theatrical. Sure Paramount is likely to score big with M:I and Transformers but that means little when Paramount's core business, cable networks, is...

A B is the same score as Batman v. Superman. This movie is toast. I expect the Flash will be off-limits for DC movies like Green Lantern for the foreseeable future.

    Elemental (Pixar - June 2023)

Meh, Disney can absorb a big loss like that, like they always have. The same cannot be said for WB with The Flash crashing and burning.

The whole board would have to be sacked before that happens lol.

The Flash got $9.7 million in Thursday previews, including fan screenings. For comparison, Guardians Vol. 3, Across the Spider-Verse and Quantumania all grossed around $17 million in previews. Only Shazam II grossed lower than Flash at $3.4 million. Sucks Elemental is also flopping but I'll...
