Universal Epic Universe (South Expansion Complex) - Now Open!

 Seriously? You're really going to go this way with it and pretend like you don't know what I mean? Fine, we'll say "semi-permanent' or perhaps "long-term" by which I mean, intended to not be temporary or short-lived. I would call a takeover of the Hello Kitty store and a green...

Universal Epic Universe (South Expansion Complex) - Now Open!

A stage show that ran for 5 years is not what I'd call permanent. If anything, that's what I'd expect them to do here. If it doesn't need to be indoors. they already have three unused open-air theaters on property ready for a makeover.

I admit I've not read the books (or been able to see the Broadway version of the musical*) so I'll take your word as a subject matter expert, here. :) *Don't keep an eye on tour dates so by the time I realize it's heading to town it's always sold out unless paying crazy prices in the aftermarket.

I don't think Universal even has anything to do with the books, do they? Besides paying out royalties to someone? It seems like if anything, the publisher would maybe be trying to ride the popularity of the movies to promote the books considering that the movies are only indirectly sourced...

Then that's how they'll keep it going and how it might be possible to see Universal invest in more permanent attractions, I think. I know there is more to the "The Wicked Years" series that is the source the musical is based on but you hardly ever hear anyone talking about the books - or at...

Universal Epic Universe (South Expansion Complex) - Now Open!

I'm not asking them to run anything into the ground but that's what studios do today if they think there's a penny to be made and I don't think Universal is going to build a "permanent" theme park attraction for a popular Broadway musical no matter how much the niche audience of people who both...

And Burk has a half a dozen animated movies behind it, a live action that is out now and presumably plans for a number of follow-up live action with the same version of these characters. Will Wicked have the same? That's not a rhetorical question, btw - does anyone here know if they have plans...

Is it? Avatar already had multiple sequels with contracts signed. After the second half of this movie comes out this year, does this? I mean, I like Universal and all but I think they are worse than Disney when it comes to the IP mandate which is why I'd be skeptical of them investing in...

Universal Epic Universe (South Expansion Complex) - Now Open!

I wonder what kind of staying power this would have, though. Wicked is obviously insanely popular with the subset of society that's into Broadway musicals and the first movie had enough production value and star power behind it to overcome the "I don't want to see a musical" crowd to some...

No. If you've ridden Forbidden Journey, it's the same ride system but with better designed seats and in my opinion if anything, a less dramatic movement profile so I'd say it's a smoother ride than that one. Yeah, the thing at the end of that portion of pre-show with the model is meant to be a...

I think the bigger point is that 205 people is less than a quarter of the number of people who ride Yoshi in a single hour. Statically, there are no relevant conclusions to draw from that Trip Advisor average other than to realize people are more likely to leave a review for something when...

I don't think they'd want to invest all that in such a low capacity attraction. Putting a box around it where it is would kill the theme of the land more than the coaster already does as-is. It's painfully obvious the land was originally developed without this as a part of its skyline when you...

Universal Epic Universe (South Expansion Complex) - Now Open!

I get you. I just think if they devoted an entire "portal" to that, they'd have a hard time changing it later on because they'd have to re-crash capacity with construction downtime to tear out an entire land's worth of attractions to rebuild so it feels like that approach would become a...

Universal Epic Universe (South Expansion Complex) - Now Open!

I really hope not. I know Universal isn't Disney but I still wouldn't have a high degree of confidence that a crappy concept as a cheap and fast temporary fix would not turn into a semi-permanent long-term blight on this park. That's kind of what they did with the Wolfman coaster and it sticks...

Or on a budget and/or without attraction downtime and/or if it needs to remain a curtain due to access requirements, a curtain with a themed print and the rungs of the top hidden... or a curtain with some projection or something to make it sort of look like a rock wall or a curtain that belongs...

They are but they're not drastic rethinks on the characters at play or their origin stories. Most of what we think of today regarding the look and behavior and general backstory of characters like the wolfman, dracula, fraknestein's monster, etc. was started with the old Universal movies...

I guess what I was thinking was a move away from the cartoon-like setup where they'd have to find something else to stick in the limited scenes of ripsaw and then totally redesign the exterior for that final drop and similarly, most river rapids style rides have sprawl with a more natural...
