Yes, the closure was impromptu, but it wouldn’t be unreasonable to extend it now to do what they were already planning on doing sometime in the next couple of years anyway.

Apparently, Astro Orbiter is still closed despite today being its planned reopening date. https://blogmickey.com/2019/09/astro-orbiter-remains-closed-despite-being-scheduled-to-open-today-at-magic-kingdom/ Does anyone else think this might have to do with it getting a proper makeover to match...

The Muppets Present… Great Moments in American History'

I’ll never understand why they removed as much theming as they did. Sure, I get why they took down the hot air ballon or painted parts of the building that might be visible inside of Galaxy’s Edge, but why did they bother removing so much theming from areas that had no bearing on it? While I do...

I 100% agree with everything you said here, especially your dark ride idea.

I get the problem with MILF, but outside of the fact that they’re based on animated IP, I don’t get the issue some people have with Buzz and Stitch. Perceived quality of the individual attractions aside, there’s no denying their basis in science fiction.

I don’t disagree that upper management hasn’t helped, but let’s look at the facts here for the moment, shall we? Over the past 5 years alone, DLR has brought updates to attractions such as BTMRR, Alice in Wonderland, PPF, the Materhorn, HM and Fantasmic!. Aside from Alice and Matterhorn, WDW has...

I was thinking the exact same thing as you were about Astro Orbiter. The current refurb was an emergency refurb, so I understand why they may not have the necessary parts prepped if a redo. However, I can’t imagine that it won’t be touched again sometime befor the 50th given the way everrything...

The sign looks great. Probably the most definitive step forward in this weirdly executed step by step redo of the land. That being said, the fact that they did nothing to make the bases match the new/old look is triggering my OCD.

Thanks for your insight. I understand why things are the way they are, but I do hold out at least a little sliver of hope that the added capacity of Tron might help push things in the opposite direction once that opens. I largely agree with what you’re saying, but I think it’s less of an Iger...

Yeah, but that’s what happened in the ill-fated refurb from 10 years ago. Although I assume what you said means that there’s no new refurb being planned to your knowledge, how exactly would the cuts made in the 2009 refurb have any bearing on what happens with a potential future refurb?

DHS Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance

I’m not one to feed the trolls, but I don’t think a Johnson trilogy is a sound financial decision. While you may not entirely agree with the “Star Wars is dead” narrative the Fandom Menace is tirelessly pushing, the backlash towards TLJ is real and would certainly result in diminishing returns...

DHS Star Wars Galaxy's Edge opening day reports - Disney's Hollywood Studios

Except they did cheap out on attractions. Not only was the roaming live entertainment cut, but a dinner theater restaurant that was supposed to be the primary feature of the Oga’s facility as well as an entire attraction that would’ve added kinetics to the land. Read this if you want to know...

DHS Star Wars Galaxy's Edge opening day reports - Disney's Hollywood Studios

I have to agree with this. I understand why they wanted to salvage the area in between Star Tours and SW:GE, but it feels very awkward to have a Star Wars themed attraction outside of its designated area. That being said, it’s worth mentioning that MF:SR has a Starspeeder 1000 pop up at the end...

DHS Star Wars Galaxy's Edge opening day reports - Disney's Hollywood Studios

Based on what you’re saying, I assume you haven’t looked far beyond what theme park fans have to say. As I mentioned earlier in the thread, the Star Wars fandom is one of the most toxic and has a contingent that blindly hates anything that is remotely associated with the franchise’s recent...

DHS Star Wars Galaxy's Edge opening day reports - Disney's Hollywood Studios

That GIF was intended as kind of a joke by the way. It shouldn’t have taken this long to get to 9 rides. All kidding aside, it is still a new record. While we lost two rides to get there, the ride count was only 6 when they were still operational.

DHS Star Wars Galaxy's Edge opening day reports - Disney's Hollywood Studios

It’s beyond me that some people are unable to understand this. Whether you personally think they’re good or bad movies, why would it make sense for Disney not to tie the land into their current slate of films? The fact that there’s a ludicrous and contradictory conspiracy theory out there about...

DHS Star Wars Galaxy's Edge opening day reports - Disney's Hollywood Studios

Not to derail another thread over personal opinions on movies, but there’s no need to be ashamed. RotS is top tier Star Wars IMHO as well as an integral chapter of the franchise.

It still should be graded on a curve as far as I’m concerned. However, for those who are quick to judge on their own personal biases, if a second ride isn’t open right right this second then it might as well not be opening at all.
