    Quick Serve favourites?

I think that the real mad hatter made some great suggestions (if you can 'decode' the acronyms ;)) and I'll add the following: In Magic Kingdom, I'd add Cosmic Ray's SC to the list, as they have the various "bays" and hence a pretty good variety now - also big enough that waits are usually...

    Can't sleep...

I typically sleep very well while at the World - a full day of walking, lots of eating, and wine or cocktails with dinner usually combine to make me pretty tired. The resorts I favor all seem to be pretty good for sleeping too. To the extent it is possible these days, I avoid busy times, so...

    Something my son said...

Like Jillie Fish, I don't have any kids - just me - I'm the big kid that loves Disney, and it seems the older I get and the more I go, the more I love and appreciate WDW and all it has to offer.

    TOP 5 Restaurant MUST DOs...

    #1 - Victoria & Albert's #2 - California Grill #3 - Jiko #4 - Citricos #5 - Le Cellier

    Avoiding crowds

I seek to avoid not just the crowds, but the heat as well - fortunately, these objectives seem to be complementary. I've gone up during a January cold snap (in 2010 - nights in the 20's - and that's cold for WDW) and this was the closest to having the parks to myself that I could remember...

    Grounhog Day

California Grill: Triple Cheese Brick oven flatbread, Yoshie's Deluxe Sushi Platter, the ostrich or bison steak - whichever they have that day; Jiko: Grilled wild-boar tenderloin app., Braai-Style Wahoo and Pork Belly, Oak-Grilled filet mignon (unless they have the spice-rubbed, grilled...

    Happy Retirement Yoshie!

No!!!! This is not news that I really wanted to hear. While thrilled for Yoshie, I'm pretty sad for me! I've enjoyed a lot of her excellent work, and will really miss having her there. I'm convinced that very, very few people understand what an art fine sushi is (try it yourself some time...

    California Grill concept art

I'm a huge, huge fan of the California Grill and the Contemporary. I'm frustrated by the long refurb, because I don't like going that long without eating there! That being said, the concept art is pretty dull, and makes me wonder why it is such a long project when the changes seem relatively...

    I need help deciding...

Agreed - Jiko is a really, really excellent dinner experience. (I really like Boma too, but I'd much rather have a breakfast at Boma and Jiko for dinner).

    QS options for each park...

I'll second Hatter's suggestion for Sunshine Seasons at EPCOT, and it has the added bonus of a lot of variety (and some of the freshest food of any of the QS locations). Hatter is also right-on about Flame Tree BBQ - an excellent choice at Animal Kingdom (and I love that they take the Tables in...

All of my food choices are in Epcot....help me think of some places we can eat

It will help if you can clarify your question - but it seems that you're looking for options other than in EPCOT, right? Assuming that you're looking for options outside of EPCOT, do you mean in the parks, or at the resorts as well? If you have your own vehicle, (its tough getting from resort...

Most Over Rated Restaurant At WDW.

Funny you should say that and mention Victoria & Albert's, because last time I was there Chef Hunnel made me an incredible dish with abalone and Meyer lemon ... I 'third' Dave's suggestion to free up the sourcing for the Signature Dining restaurants ... (I'm admittedly biased as a Tables In...

    Any drawbacks to online check-in?

I've used online check-in several times now, and it has always worked perfectly - I've not had to wait for more than a few minutes to get my check-in package, and room assignments have not suffered (to my knowledge)

Most Over Rated Restaurant At WDW.

I would say Mama Melrose's Ristorante Italiano - there's nothing fresh, original or particularly redeeming about it. I agree that Le Cellier is probably also overrated, though I have at least had some really outstanding dishes / meals there, so it earned at least some of its reputation ...

I'll add my vote for Starring Rolls - I sure hope you're not planning to try them all in one trip ;)

Dinners in the World, out of the Parks

I second LuLaSue's vote for Jiko - I absolutely love and highly recommend it. Just the chance to be at AKL at night for a while really adds to the whole experience. If you want something a bit less formal but would still like to enjoy some time at AKL, Boma is great (and I've heard wonderful...

    Has anyone eaten at Portobello?

I've only been there once, but was left with a very favorable opinion. Like some of the others who have commented, I consider myself quite critical, and I really enjoyed it - food and service were both very good. If I was planning a dinner at Downtown Disney, it would be my first choice.

    If you could...

    1. Add a country to Epcot - South Africa 2. Bring back one classic - Horizons 3. Ride your favorite ride - Splash Mountain (with everything working, and no nets!) 4. Stay at any resort - Contemporary 5. Eat any Disney food - another meal at Victoria & Albert's 6. Choose one 'land' in the Magic...

good dining choices? out of pocket!!

I have nothing against Restaurant Marrakesh (they have some great things, actually) but with all of the options in EPCOT / World Showcase, it would not be at the very top of my list - you did not state the ages of the boys or how flexible they are in dining choices, but you might want to show...

    Does anyone else remember...

My first visit was in 1974, and by that time I'd been watching Disney programming for years, including a lot of things promoting the parks. There had been "The Mouse Factory", and the "The Wonderful World of Disney", and, as I recall, several nature / wildlife specials and such.
