Personally I don't understand the people who seem to have first discovered that Disney is greedy simply by being loosely aware of the price of a GS stay.

if you can find them doing 30% discounts for the public across the board you're doing better than me. The DVC stuff is little different than what they do with cruises or non-DVC.

uh, what? Until they shutdown for weeks, cut storylines/characters, or (gasp) cut the price to the public what's changed from the beginning? The literal easiest thing for them to do is cut the normal price and they haven't done that.

By not doing more they must think they're still in a position of strength - all opinions in this thread to the contrary.

You can use DVC points for GS. It's just not a very good conversion money-wise. If they changed that it'd be another 'sign of failure' I imagine to some.

You've also got people running around screeching joyously of its failure because (checks notes) castmembers are getting a discount?

Do you see many people who've gone and paid say it's not worth the price? Or is it the perception of the experience by people who haven't done it? Certainly sticker shock matters and some may not do it at all given its expense. But 'the verdict' by people who've done it rarely mentions it...

Nobody involved on that side of the house is being paid enough for how special they make the experience.

The server staff and ship's staff all had backstories and contributed just as much to the experience in my opinion. I made a note of 3-4 of their names and gave feedback saying how special they made everything.

I don't think that's a conspiracy theory. I think that's what happened. I have an "art of galaxy's edge" book somewhere and there's certainly things that never got made (rides) and amenities that never were incorporated into the 'vanilla' park experience.

The wand comparison would be similar to a MagicBand+ and the Bounty Hunter game in my opinion. Having done the GS I don't think 'a lot' of the experiences are 'normal parts' of theme park admission elsewhere.
