News New DAS System at Walt Disney World 2024

Since Disney Springs has never done anything with DAS, I would be surprised if they started now.

Correct, you don't have to do anything in advance in order to utilize an alternate entrance for mobility devices that won't fit in the queue.

News New DAS System at Walt Disney World 2024

No, it is not - it's totally separate from DAS.

Because it needs to be consistent; it can't be that sometimes you can come back as late as you want and sometimes you have to come back on time or you can't enter the LL. I do understand why DAS users have the option of coming back when they're able to after the return time, because in some...

Yes, I know - I thought the discussion about return time was in relation to even having one, as opposed to the old GAC which didn't.

Yeah, hoping they'll get that figured out...

DAS was (and is) a return time, so not sure what you're talking about.

Yep, just like people can manage the heat - except in a line, or they can handle sun exposure - except in a line.

And I don't believe any of them. I have no doubt that there are plenty of people who will see an outlandish report of something and then say it happened to them too. Especially when you see how rabid some of these people are about being cut out from DAS.

OK, so you believe that EVERYONE with a "legit disability" should be issued a DAS, whether they need one to experience the parks or not. And this is exactly why it had to be changed...the perfect example of "overuse".

But you said Figment didn't need a DAS when FP was in place. So if they were able to see experience the park with FP, why can't they experience it with Genie+ and still not get a DAS? (Hint: they can - they just don't want to have to pay for it)

And having a "legit disability" doesn't mean you need a DAS. I don't get why this is so hard to understand.

Your last point is interesting, since it seems that you're basically saying if the accommodation isn't useful, then people should just stay home. To be clear, I'm not agreeing with that, it's just how I'm interpreting your post.

News New DAS System at Walt Disney World 2024

Pretty sure that IBCCES doesn't use medical people to review the documentation. But again, from my perspective, it's a moot point because pretty much anyone can fake medical documentation, and then Disney is still having to decide. As with a previous poster, we'll just agree to disagree on...

Then again, we'll just agree to disagree. I think Disney is definitely on the right track.

Possibly - it might also be that the they want the people who pay for Genie+ and/or the new system to get some value for what they're actually paying for, as well as make the line accessible for remaining DAS users, some of whom couldn't even wait in the bloated LLs prior to the changes.

News New DAS System at Walt Disney World 2024

Probably, but again, why add a third party to read documentation if they add no value to the process?

News New DAS System at Walt Disney World 2024

Yes, I understand that, I was simply using the example of why providing documentation doesn't really do anything to reduce the number of people applying for DAS, nor does much of the documentation outline what actual accommodations are needed.
  19. N

News New DAS System at Walt Disney World 2024

Exactly. It really seems that they're focusing DAS on guests for whom waiting in the actual line causes disability-related problems, not people who might have disability related problems while they happen to be in the line. A subtle yet valid distinction.

News New DAS System at Walt Disney World 2024

Again, looking at what IBCCES accepts as documentation doesn't lend any degree of confidence (to me, at least) that this would be a solution. They'll accept a parking a placard...the front page of an IEP...a VA letter showing disability. None of which provides any info on actual accommodation...
