News New DAS System at Walt Disney World 2024

They can do rider swap and wait outside the line - so no, I wouldn't be providing DAS for bathroom issues or for any other issue that isn't caused by being in the actual line.

News New DAS System at Walt Disney World 2024

Fair enough, but should they all receive the DAS accommodation as a just in case? It appears that Disney is saying "no", and I think they're correct.

Totally get that, and I agree, but then it can't be said that the statement itself is a blanket denial - that was my point.

News New DAS System at Walt Disney World 2024

Yes, I know. My point is that if, as you claim, it is unambiguous that Disney is blanket denying physical disabilities based on the wording on their website, then why did so many people with physical disabilities call to try to get the DAS?

News New DAS System at Walt Disney World 2024

Again, your opinion. It would seem that all of the people with physical disabilities who called and were denied, along with the apparently few who were approved, understood quite well that they were free to call.

News New DAS System at Walt Disney World 2024

Having just gone back and re-read the GAC ruling from 2020 (which was later upheld on appeal), there is a great deal in there that Disney can fall back on, if necessary, in any new DAS lawsuits. Specifically: Public accommodations must start by considering how their facilities are used by...

News New DAS System at Walt Disney World 2024

They essentially did say that by saying "Guests" rather than "developmentally disabled guests" can apply.

You're certainly welcome to your opinion, as I am to mine.

News New DAS System at Walt Disney World 2024

Apparently many people with physical disabilities are applying, because most of them are complaining about the DAS party being over for them, while others are being approved for DAS.

News New DAS System at Walt Disney World 2024

Those instructions are very specific, whereas Disney's leave room for anyone to apply. " DAS is one of our programs offered at Walt Disney World theme parks intended to accommodate those Guests who, due to a developmental disability like autism or similar, are unable to wait in a conventional...

Because Disney isn't "blanket" denying anyone.

Agree 100% with your last sentence - doesn't mean they shouldn't apply, but they should definitely not plan on getting the DAS.

If people choose to not apply, that's really on them.

News New DAS System at Walt Disney World 2024

You're actually the only person I've seen on any forum who has implied that it's discrimination to make people wait on the phone, so I doubt that when Disney gets sued it will be over the phone wait times.

News New DAS System at Walt Disney World 2024

Some can yes, which is why some people with autism and other developmental and/or neurological disabilities aren't being granted a DAS. And no one is dismissing anyone's disability, but there is a big difference between an issue being caused due to waiting in a line and an issue occurring...

News New DAS System at Walt Disney World 2024

My thought as well. To believe that documentation is going to make a difference, you would have to believe that everyone that is currently being denied is denied because Disney thinks they're lying, and I don't believe that's the case.

News New DAS System at Walt Disney World 2024

I don't see how it possibly makes any difference, but I guess you do.

Agree, but again, I don't think the biggest problem was cheaters. And if that's the case, then a note really does nothing of value, IMO.
