News New DAS System at Walt Disney World 2024

How do you propose they become "more strict" without denying it to some/many people who had it before? Having a "clear" disability doesn't equate to needing a DAS in order to access the attractions.

News New DAS System at Walt Disney World 2024

And how do you propose that Disney determine who the "full on liars" are? Medical documentation does nothing, since it is not only easily faked, but also it normally focuses on diagnosis rather than need. Just because someone has a disability doesn't mean they need or are entitled to any...

News New DAS System at Walt Disney World 2024

At WDW, based on the wording, it would be an accommodation for someone with a service animal who doesn't want to use the kennel. At DL, it looks like it can be used as an accommodation for someone who can't wait in the line.

News New DAS System at Walt Disney World 2024

Or maybe not...very poorly worded, IMO: Rider Switch Rider switch is a program available to all Guests. With Rider Switch, Guests can wait with member(s) of their party who aren’t riding due to any of the reasons listed below. Once the first Guest returns the waiting Guest can board the...

News New DAS System at Walt Disney World 2024

Want to correct something - when you go to the rider switch page at WDW, it says it's for guests who can't or won't ride, but when you go to the accessibility section, it does say it's available for all guests. Apologies for the previous misinformation.

News New DAS System at Walt Disney World 2024

True enough, but I always go back to 2013 when they got rid of GAC. The uproar was huge, tons of bad publicity, multiple lawsuits, and Disney stuck by their guns, even to the point of fighting a lawsuit for 8 years. I think with the LL changes that start the end of this month, there is no way...

News New DAS System at Walt Disney World 2024

No, I don't believe so - just saying that the "DAS Defenders" are confident that they will due to bad publicity.

News New DAS System at Walt Disney World 2024

I don't know, I just know that Rider Switch is described as "for all guests" on the DL site, and for guests "who can't or don't want to board an attraction" on the WDW site.

News New DAS System at Walt Disney World 2024

Rider Switch is available to all guests at DL, I don't believe that's the case for WDW. And there is nothing at all wrong with recommending Genie+ to someone who chooses not even try the recommended accommodation.

News New DAS System at Walt Disney World 2024

My response to her whining has nothing to do with her having a disability. And I'm not going to take anyone seriously, disabled or not, who, when they don't get what they want, makes a video urging someone to give her something.

News New DAS System at Walt Disney World 2024

Very true, but she wasn't advocating for AP holders to buy the discounted Genie+, she was advocating for disabled guests to do so.

News New DAS System at Walt Disney World 2024

Thank you...interesting that she never noted that in her original video, just pointedly asking for discounted Genie+. And if she's concerned about waiting the length of standby, she can wait outside the line and join her party...

News New DAS System at Walt Disney World 2024

She can - she can wait outside the line and join her party or she can buy Genie+ if she doesn't want to utilize the offered accommodation.

News New DAS System at Walt Disney World 2024

Because staying with your party is not a required accommodation. Non-disabled parties have to split up all the time for various reasons.

News New DAS System at Walt Disney World 2024

Blocking your path in the LL or standby? Meaning, if you're permitted to go through LL, I'm not sure why you would go back through standby. And if you're going through LL, not sure why you would be going past people.

News New DAS System at Walt Disney World 2024

Interesting, because the examples I've seen with people who waited outside the queue (non-DAS) was that there were permitted to use the LL to join their party at the merge. Did you ask the CM about that?

News New DAS System at Walt Disney World 2024

Um, she had accessibility, she just didn't want to use it because she didn't want to split from her group. She wasn't asking to be approved for the DAS, she was asking for a discounted Genie+ so that she doesn't have to split from her group. Disney is under no legal obligation to provide the...

News New DAS System at Walt Disney World 2024

The only way I can see them going back giving out DAS for a wider range of needs is if they make it to where it truly works more like a standby line, thus taking away the incentive to cheat or overstate "needs" in order to get one.
