I'm going, going back, back to Cali, Cali.....

It's been 6 years since I've been last too, so welcome to the club. We have the luxury of filling two weeks, Disney, Uni, Beach, Hollywood! I'm hoping that there will be few refurbs going on in Anaheim.

Love the theaters, some are absolutely spectacular. My last visit to LA in 2008, we enjoyed touring the Chinese and taking in a movie at El Capitan. This year I hope to tour the Egyptian and perhaps see what's playing at the Chinese.

Disney Sisters 1st trip to Disney Land - May 2013

Yes, thanks so much. Still trying to decide what all I want to do and what my 15 year old will enjoy. In 2008 we ate at the Soda Fountain right under Miley Cyrus' guitar and my daughter was in heaven! We took in a movie at the El Capitan. We also toured the Chinese Theater. This time I'd...

Disney Sisters 1st trip to Disney Land - May 2013

Of all the times I've been to Hollywood, I've never done a bus tour, so I'm doing a lot of research especially the Star Line Tours including TMZ for our next trip in July/August. Anyway with Grayline, it looks like you were inside. Would you have preferred open air and how often did they stop...

    DAK Avatar construction aerial updates

I'm wondering if they'll repurpose the FotLK building or just level it and start anew.

Best Disney tip you ever got!

We had great success with this plan if you stay for an entire week. The first 3 days we'd get up early and hit park openings to hit our favorites without a wait then after lunch or mid afternoon return to our resort and nap, hit the pool, etc. The second half the week we'd sleep in, do the...

    Disneyland hotels

I'm finding ala carte is the cheapest way to go. Planning on visiting in late July and have found I get a much cheaper deal by staying at a Choice Hotel (of which I am a member and get a good discount) and purchasing tickets from way.com. I haven't yet researched walking to and from or...

    DAK AVATAR breaks ground

I think there was talk about a new nighttime parade along the river wasn't there? I'm not sure about Mickey's Jungle Parade, but yes that may be chopped from what Ive seen. I agree that a couple smaller attractions would be great, but for someone that visits only every few years I think AK...

    DAK AVATAR breaks ground

I think it is meant that the parks will be open past 5 or 6 pm with Avatar, night time show and parade. That's likely what they mean by being a full day park.

    DAK AVATAR land construction progress

Sounds more like show buildings height and getting an idea of where facades and foliage might need to be to block them. I don't know the obstacles that would be presented, but they could always build down too I suppose.

Part of Sid Cahuenga's at Disney's Hollywood Studios to become a MyMagic+ service center

First off, I have no problems with the Magic Band, etc. but am disappointed to see the unique shops and experiences disappear. That's one of the things I enjoy about Disneyland. It's fun to experience the magic shop or penny arcade that makes Main Street its own attraction rather than more...

    DLR Newbie questions

Overall I agree, you should be able to tackle most everything you want with that plan. Personally I'm planning on a similar schedule when we visit in July 2014. Make sure you have time to see all attractions that are unique to California and slightly different than in Florida, like Pirates...

The Official "Explore Southern California!" Thread

Oh and if you head west, I think is the Roosevelt Hotel, sight of first Academy Awards. And if you hit LaBrea that's the street where Kat Von D's High Voltage tattoo shop is located.

Lots of places of interest right there as well include the Disney Soda Fountain right next to the El Cap and Jimmy Kimmel Live on the other side. A short walk east is the Egyptian Theater if you enjoy the classic style. I want to hit the tour there next time. We did the tour at the Kodak, now...

    21 Types of Disneyland Fans

I'd be the single guy if it wasn't for my daughter willing to go with me. I have backed off the commando a bit over the years, but thankfully never made it to the fanatic stage! :)

First Disneyland Visit Trip Report! (7/21/13 - 7/27/13)

Loving the report...I've been fortunate to visit both parks a handful of times but hoping to make in July of 2014 so reading your report is getting me excited...luckily we'll be able to visit some other So Cal hot spots too! Like you though I've been to WDW about 3 times since DL so I'll have to...

Keep it going...I've been to some of the places mentioned in the past but love the local perspective! in 2008 did Disney, Universal, Farmer's Market & The Grove. Hollywood Kodak Tour, Chinese Theater, LA Ink, saw a movie at El Cap. This time my daughter will be 15. Any of the local Hollywood...

I curious when the Cameron/Disney marriage came about to produce Avatar, if some kind of dollar amount was discussed as part of the agreement.

Studio Backlot Tour to close for a near two month refurbishment in early 2014

I'm in agreement with most, either clear the space for something new or upgrade it for something amazing. For anyone that's enjoyed the Universal Hollywood Tour (I know that's a tough comparison because of the size and it's history) but it's hard to compare others.
