    Alice in Wonderland updates

I would think Little Mermaid qualifies as a dark ride as well.

    Game Plan in the Parks?

Touringplans.com is a good resource if you want to optimize your time and helps decide what to ride when. Its a nominal subscription but might be worth looking at for help if you are interested.

First Disneyland and DCA Trip Report!

Sounds about like I was guessing. I think we'll venture over while staying in the Hollywood area since its closer than my grandmother's in Arcadia. I know we want to check out the Venice Beach Freakshow and the other performers. Good tip, sounds a little like Hollywood Blvd when it comes to...

The Official "Explore Southern California!" Thread

Thanks Raven, I heard there were a lot of head shops. A different world than the midwest for sure! I'll make sure to bring some singles for tips. I'm also excited about a new experience. I'll have to lend some photo reviews to this thread when I return.

First Disneyland and DCA Trip Report!

Thanks for the info Jill, yes we are booked at the Park Place Inn primarily for being across the street and the pic on their site of the Monorail and Matterhorn sold me. Perhaps their breakfasts will improve :) If not a nice sweet treat on Main Street is always a good idea! We'll be looking...

The Official "Explore Southern California!" Thread

The Hearst Castle is something else. Its been years since I've been and we took a basic tour (this was around 1980 or so). I know at that time there were several tours available because its size. I also recall we stayed in a charming little town called Solvang. I believe its a Dutch...

First Disneyland and DCA Trip Report!

Sounds like a mighty fun time. Can you give me any tips on Venice Beach? My 15 year old daughter has become engrossed in AMC's Freakshow. She wants to visit the boardwalk so I'm looking for tips. Also any tips for the hotel stay? We are also booked at the Best Western. How long is the walk...

Love the Broadway tour pics Raven. Too bad they have declined so much since their heyday. If I could jump in a time machine, Hollywood in the 40s/50s would be my destination.

    Alice in Wonderland updates

I know its better to be safe than sorry, but have there been many or any injuries before the refurb or even issues with the ride cars needing to evacuate on the leaf trail? I'm thankful the refurb should be done by our trip in late July to enjoy the updates.

    Original Disneyland

Interesting...thanks for the knowledge. I was young and had attended the parks a few times when visiting relatives but obviously didn't pay attention like I do now.

    Original Disneyland

Can you imagine Disneyland actually closing. I found that out earlier this year and was astonished. My how times have changed!

November / Best Western and other Questions

We are trying out the Best Western as well so crossing my fingers. The location was perfect without spending the big bucks for an on property hotel and close enough we can take a break if needed and no transportation necessary. While I haven't done it (till our trip this summer) I've read...

Universal Studios Hollywood has now matched Disneyland's one-day ticket price

Good to hear...I've done the Hollywood thing on past vacations but this time we are doing more tours so always happy to hear positives on WB & Sony since we'll be doing both.

Neat story on DL's oldest planting!

Nice! I knew the story but a good reminder to tell my daughter the history and point it out to her later this summer. We need to keep retelling these stories to our children so they'll follow the tradition!

New nighttime show 'Rivers of Light' confirmed to be coming to Disney's Animal Kingdom

The park will really have to stay open late in the summer to take advantage of new night time offerings. I'm sure Lion King & Nemo will include more shows as well. Nice to finally see Disney ramping up again to give visitors new attractions to experiencing.

Wife now likes DL over WDW?!?

So true. My grandmother lives in Arcadia so the San Gabriels are kind of in her back yard so its a special treat to visit and enjoy something that's not flat! I grew up on a farm. Actually I think one of those shots might be from the Shawnee National Forest in Southern Illinois. Northwestern...
