I feel like such a bad Broadway fan, I haven’t listened to the recordings for any of the musicals nominated yet. Side note-I do like jukebox musicals, but I’m not crazy that 3/4 of the qualifying shows are jukebox shows.

Mean Girls, Hairspray, Anastasia, The Producers, Legally Blonde, Waitress and Newsies are pretty popular. As are Aladdin, The Lion King, and Mary Poppins. Beetlejuice may have closed, but it developed a massive fan base, and I’m curious to see how the tour goes next year.
