We live on Long Island as well, but we've enjoyed many a meal at WDW. Yes, some of it is because of the ambiance, but the food was good too. Some faves were California Grill, 'Ohana, breakfast at Kona Cafe (tonga toast and macadamia nut pineapple pancakes), Le Cellier, Rose & Crown...

Magical Express won't take your carry-on bags so it is a moot point. Once you bring them to the resort yourself, I would feel pretty comfortable leaving them with the desk if your room isn't ready.

I see this is an old post that was revived. By way of update to my earlier comment, my kids are now 17 and 19, and we have been to Disney parks 10 times, and we all still love it!

I also book through Costco for the best prices and cancel/rebook as I get closer if the prices have dropped. It's the only smart way to do it!
