Coronavirus and Walt Disney World general discussion

I think what he was suggesting to me was that you don't have to have massive pre-existing conditions (for instance, hypertension is a pre-existing condition that is shared by a LOT of people who would otherwise categorize themselves as healthy -- me included)...to be subject to having this in a...

How much of Disney World has to be open for you to go?

My family had a trip planned for May 30 - June 6. Obviously, it was cancelled. However, we had bought four 6-day parkhoppers, and those have a September 2021 expiration on them. Given our schedules, the only time we can commit to going is around Christmas time, which I know inherently is a...

My doctor has told me his concern is that people are treating this like it's either a death sentence or a nothingburger. He says he has patients who have had awful bouts with this with potentially life-long effects stemming from it...but if it's not a death, it's not deemed significant in those...

Voyage of the Little Mermaid is done, won't reopen with the parks.

How about Mr. Dark from "Something Wicked This Way Comes?" Can we work that in? Man, I wish they'd put that on Disney+!!

I just pulled up MyDisneyExperience and it hasn't yet shown a cancellation of my reservations for OKW from May 30 - June 6...which is weird to me, but I'm sure it will happen soon enough. My 6 day parkhoppers still show up, obviously...I'd love to get a refund on those, but doesn't sound like...

Oh, I don't disagree with you...I think it will be a while too. Just saying that SSE seems like an easy thing to keep around if they're diverting $$ from certain projects to another. It's already built and helps handle capacity when they do open. The financial strains will be around long...

Just a guess that the SSE redo gets pushed off for a while...it's still an attraction that can accommodate a lot of guests when the parks reopen. As they divert funds elsewhere, I'm betting that one re-opens as we've known it for a while.

I'm aware of the study..it has issues, but I think the mods have made it clear they'd rather us not discuss that here. But I hope that French guy is 100% correct and this is a wonder drug.

Yep, that's awesome. No idea how long we are out from a vaccine. Experts seem to say a range anywhere from 12-18 months or so before it can be utilized. Of course, in all likelihood this pandemic would have peaked and moved along by then...fingers crossed.

Agreed..and in no way did I intend to mean that it wouldn't be great. I hope like hell that it works. But a drug (like an antiviral) that reduces symptoms is not a cure. It does not eradicate a virus the way that antibiotics eradicate a bacterial infection. You can still be contagious with...

Coronavirus and Walt Disney World general discussion

Totally fair, and using the cold was a bad choice apparently because it led the discussion down a different path...my point was only to say that those are viruses..we don't cure those, we alleviate those...and we provide immunizations (that we hope people will subject themselves to) in order to...

Which would be awesome! I completely agree.

People understand we don't have cures for viruses, right? We might have treatments that reduce symptoms...and we can develop vaccines to help reduce the number of people that get them (provided people will get the vaccines, because they're voluntary and administered when you're healthy - we're...

POLL: When are you planning to return to Walt Disney World?

I said this in the larger thread about the virus...my family has a trip scheduled for May 31-June 5. Even if they opened up June 1, I doubt we'd go. My answer to this thread is there is no way I can answer this thread question at this point...I'll listen to the doctors and experts first.

Coronavirus and Walt Disney World general discussion

I agree. There is this notion that if we just tell people the orders are lifted that they'll go right back to what they were doing...but remember, massive private business interests were closing up shop long before there were orders shutting things down. They chose to take those steps before...

I have a trip scheduled for WDW from May 30 - June 5. At this point, if WDW opened during that timeframe...say June 1...I'm still not sure I'd be comfortable going there given the masses of people we'd be around. It's insane to think my family wouldn't be exposed to it there given the massive...
