A2grafix's Wine & Dine Half 2013; coast to coast challenge Part 2

I racked my back in May 2010 I think by getting out of the car or trying to pull up the garage door at my apartment complex. I was trying to exercise but did something that hurt me so much that a nerve was pinched. I believe also that I slept on a futon for nearly 5 years and not a normal bed...

A2grafix's Wine & Dine Half 2013; coast to coast challenge Part 2

After party was satisfying. I've been to the Food and Wine festival in the past so I knew what to expect. I like others walking around the showcase we dragged and dragged and dragged. Slow going, but worth it. Every runner got a $10 gift card for food at the kiosks, so free food. I had my fill...

A2grafix's Wine & Dine Half 2013; coast to coast challenge Part 2

Got to bed at 5am and was up by 9:30am and checked out by 10:45am. Instead of having breakfast had birthday cake in Shades lobby celebrating the 238th birthday of the Marines. I did grab some coffee and a bite to eat at a quick service place inside Shades before Mears took me and others to the...

A2grafix's Wine & Dine Half 2013; coast to coast challenge Part 2

Finished strong, was not tired, my feet didn't hurt, there were no blisters and I did not lose a toenail, as I did after Tower 10 miler and Disneyland Half (found out I was tying my shoes too tight). Body glide worked very well, though after 2 hours of waiting before the race some of it wore...

A2grafix's Wine & Dine Half 2013; coast to coast challenge Part 2

(Third floor view of 1 of 2 pools at Shades of Green at sunset. Wish I spent a week!) Race in itself was pretty cool and I remembered much of the route, though, backwards, from the 2012 Tower 10 miler. Started in F corral and kind of strange the corrals were shot off every 2 minutes. Thought...

A2grafix's Wine & Dine Half 2013; coast to coast challenge Part 2

Hi everyone. First off, as many of you already know I successfully completed my first-ever runDisney Coast to Coast Challenge Nov. 9 and 10 after finishing the Wine and Dine Half Marathon in 2:30.20. Challenged myself this year in running a handful of half marathons, which I have never done...

    What did you do?

First run eight days after the 2013 Wine and Dine Half. Pretty nice day for it too. 77F, humid, windy, 15-20mph gusts (part of that front that had embedded tornadoes in them that slammed into Chicago, that caused the Ravens-Bears game delay). Dark clouds moved out and clear sky full moon rising...

How many runDisney miles have you run?

UPDATE: As of last weekend's 2013 Wine and Dine, with an awesome time of 2:32.20 I have run 36.2 miles on Disney properties, plus the city of Anaheim. Don't know when I will run another Disney half marathon, so I will be at 36.2 for a while.

Disney Wine and Dine Half Marathon

Found out I finished a little faster. Not 2:32-ish but 2:30:20, less than 7 minutes off my PR of 2:22.57 (January 2013, Louisiana Half Marathon in Baton Rouge). I also placed 114th in the men's military category. Finished in the top 33-percent of the runners, too -- 4151 out of 12,143 finishers...

Disney Wine and Dine Half Marathon

Yeah, seemed the 2 minute launches seemed less crowded, but this is coming from someone who has never run up until last night the Wine and Dine. Compared to Disneyland, the corrals were not squished.

Disney Wine and Dine Half Marathon

Finished in 2:32-ish. Started in corral F. Pretty good and strong run. Sluggish though walking around the showcase for the afterparty. Felt like I walked through all 4 parks. On top of that, earned my first coast to coast medal.

    What did you do?

Accomplished something never thought attainable. runDisney Coast to Coast. Finished second half early Sunday morning with a 2:32-ish finish in Wine and Dine Half. Sept. 1 finished Disneyland Half in 2:36. I can now mark this off my bucket list. Don't know when I will run another runDisney race.

    What did you do?

A nice and breezy, and I do mean breezy, 2.5 miles through Downtown Memphis, out and back and around Beale Street and FedExForum, in 54F in about 25 minutes. Nothing major. Little run before Saturday's Wine and Dine half marathon. I think it will be a little bit warmer at race time. And maybe...

Disney Wine and Dine Half Marathon

Oooh, Wine and Dine event merchandise. Just hope there isn't a "line ride" like there was at the 2013 Disneyland Half. A three-hour wait to check out event merchandise. I'm arriving Saturday afternoon about 90 minutes before the expo closes. I hope I made it in time to purchase one of these...

    What did you do?

Great weekend all around to be back in uniform with the Air National Guard. A day after getting my flu shot and thanking the time gods for the extra hour of sleep, ran a 28:38 in the second annual Memphis Air National Guard 5K Sunday afternoon in support of Honor Air Mid-South. And I would do it...

    What did you do?

Squeezed in 3.20 miles in around 30 minutes in the noon hour between morning volunteering for a USO concert with Lt. Dan Band (actor Gary Sinise, aka Misson:Space) and going into work, on my normal downtown route. Beautiful first day of November in Downtown Memphis. 74F, slight breeze. Even...

Disney Wine and Dine Half Marathon

"Favorite ECPOT attractions" are Test Track, Spaceship Earth and Soarin'. Not too sure about World Showcase and the Food and Wine offerings, but since it's the last day for it, or weekend for it, likely all the Food and Wine and World Showcase countries will be open. I hope.

    What did you do?

Good idea. Talking it all in. Decisions, decisions. I received word from runDisney stating that it would be possible for me to get to the corrals early and get my bib. Unsure about the shirt, C2C band, exclusive pin, and whatever else. "In the event that you are unable to make it to the race...
