    What did you do?

For months my 2013 St. Jude Memphis Marathon weekend merchandise and finishers medal had been untouched in bags in the corner of my apartment. The 2013 race was cancelled at the last second by Mother Nature's icy wrath - ice storm the day before, freezing temps and 19 at run time. Everything was...

Any personal old stories from WDW in the 1970s or so?

Another thing I remember from my 1970s trips is this one time the Country Bears characters were in the Tomorrowland midway having drag races in the old strollers. I have a picture I need to find. It was a crazy scene. I remember seeing Mr. Smee walking around outside of the Contemporary Resort...

Any personal old stories from WDW in the 1970s or so?

I have been very fortunate to visit Disney World when I was a kid. The first time was in 1976 when I was 6 and my sister was 4. My father became very involved with Disney in being on a council of business executives and I recall additional visits in 1979, 1980, 1981 and 1982, 1985, 1987, 1988...

Disney Wine and Dine Half Marathon

The Boardwalk was an interesting surface as I neared mile 12 during the 2013 Wine and Dine. After running on asphalt and concrete and other similar surfaces the Boardwalk boards did not feel good on my feet or my calves. I started to cramp up around mile 9 and it continued through Mile 12. I...

Disney Wine and Dine Half Marathon

Best of luck in the Space Coast run at Cocoa Village. I ran it in 2013 with Team RWB and plan on running it 2 more times in 2015 and 2017 to get the special big bang series 3-run medal.

    What did you do?

Post sore back run No. 3 since my half marathon. While some of North America is feeling Old Man Winter make his early return, I ran 3 miles out and back along Riverside Drive and the Mighty Mississippi in 72 and sunny skies. Massive southerly headwind but did a body good. Unfortunately this...

Disney Wine and Dine Half Marathon

    What did you do?

Soon after completing my seventh half marathon in less than two years (getting the hang of this thing called distance running), I did something stupid. I didn't do a recovery run. The day after my PRed half in Ohio I started a 12-day work week between my main job and had military duty the...

Disney Wine and Dine Half Marathon

Seeing posts on Facebook that several W&D 2014 spinner finishers medals are already damaged or broken. Some have worked in a toothpick or even a band-aid to quick-fix the medal. Wondering compared to the WDW Marathon weekend spinners, is the 5th annual Wine and Dine spinner just too heavy...

Disney Wine and Dine Half Marathon

Great that you finished. Reading some updates on a Facebook #runDisney group that the 2014 Wine and Dine was more wine, rather whine, than dine. More like a pool party. With the cold front approaching, the moderate rain did not make sure ideal running conditions. At least you toughed it out...

    Shades of Green 2015

True there is no Magical Express to Shades, but did you know that Disney uses Mears for their Magical Express? You can purchase a roundtrip Mears shuttle pass for $30-$35.

    Shades of Green 2015

Shades has remodeled the Shopette into a much larger Exchange. More product, better access. There is a huge computer / game console game room near the ice cream shop and that is near the ITT / tickets desk. As well, in November 2013 they remodeled and reopened the the blandish lap pool, the...

Disney Wine and Dine Half Marathon

Far cry from my first runDisney race - 2012 Tower 10 miler. The poster was nice and big. Worthy of a nice frame. Noticed the 2013 Disneyland Half print was no more than a 5x7.

    What did you do?

Ran 3.20 miles on Oct. 10 in about 37 minutes at my parent's home of Mentor, Ohio. Low 50s, breezy, bite in the air. Sunday morning ran 13.1 miles in PR time of 2:17.57 at the 2014 Northern Ohio Half Marathon along several Lake Erie communities in Lake County, Ohio. Surprised myself setting a...

    What did you do?

Messed up @Mad Stitch , messed up. As for me a quick 1.70 or so miles in under 17 minutes, just a quick out and back with a loop around Beale Street. Getting ready for my seventh half marathon Sunday morning in Cleveland along Lake Erie in front of my family. Only thing is that it's been in the...

    What did you do?

I know it's taper time with a week out from my next half marathon, but Saturday was another St. Jude Memphis marathon/half training run. I didn't run with the group at 6am and 48F but later in the day and start-finished outside my apartment because according to the 10-mile run, 5 mile mark was...

    What did you do?

Nothing big. A little out and back 1.75 miles in about 17-18 minutes. Overcast, 85, few hints of sun, 90-100 percent humidity, thunderstorms swirling. Unexpected light shower as I ran down Beale Street. Ahhhh.

Disney Wine and Dine Half Marathon

The 2013 Wine and Dine evening temp before race was around 72F / 22C and it dropped throughout the run into the 60sF / 17-18C. There was some humidity in the air and so after the run and the sweat I was cold. Glad I brought a sweatshirt and it kept me warm. I also wore my sweatshirt before I had...

    What did you do?

Question. What will happen to the WDW Marathon, Wine and Dine Half and Tower of Terror 10 miler courses now that the Studio Backlot Tour is now closed? if I recall I ran Tower 10 miler and Wine and Dine and both courses took us into portions of the backlot tour, at least through the tunnels...

    What did you do?

Sunday, 2 weeks out from my next half marathon and needed this run. It was a had to, need to run. 7.15 miles through Downtown Memphis, a little different route, incorporated some of the St. Jude Memphis course. Couldn't ask for more perfect conditions - 84, mostly sunny, breezy when I needed it...
