A2grafix's Coast 2 Coast Challenge Part 1: 2013 Disneyland Half

From what I recall from inside the two parks between miles 1 and 3, we enter into the backstage of DCA where the buses enter and exit (Magic Way? Disney Way? -- across the street is the last stretch before reaching Mile 12, stretch of road that is behind Garden Walk). We ran behind DCA until...

    What did you do?

Haven't run since last Saturday, but that's okay. Need a slight break from training and running Disneyland Half a few weeks back. But I am back on training for Wine and Dine, Space Coast and St. Jude Memphis halves. Today no running but have to say I missed you Tony Horton. You kicked my butt...

How many runDisney miles have you run?

UPDATE! After running 2:36.0 in the 2013 Disneyland Half, I've now run 23.1 runDisney miles. In 2012 ran the Tower 10 miler. In less than two months I will run my second half on Disney property, the Wine and Dine. (and I didn't quote myself like a jerk ;) )

'The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror 10-Miler Weekend'

It doesn't bother me, though I was not on Galloway's run-walk cycle. I saw a lot of run-walkers during the 2012 Tower 10 miler and the 2013 Disneyland Half. I myself walked here and there mainly at water stations. But if you maintain a good pace and you keep to the 16-per minute mile either...

    What did you do?

A perfect Saturday for a run. High 60s, low 70s with a northerly breeze. No humidity. In Memphis. Along the Mississippi River. Ran 6-6.5 miles in a little over 70 minutes. Slowish. Was told earlier in the week it's time to get new kicks and I felt it on my right foot. Also dealing with a bruised...

    What did you do?

In honor of September 11 and being a member of Team Red White and Blue, I ran some 4 miles around Downtown Memphis with the American flag, starting and stopping at the Memphis Fire Museum. Ran about 45-50 minutes in humid, hot, low 90s. Felt good. Even better, received claps, honks, and cheers...

Disney Wine and Dine Half Marathon

Crossing fingers the Polynesian will be a race resort hotel. The Poly is a race resort hotel for the 2013 Tower 10 miler, so bus transportation will be provided to and from. I'm staying at Shades of Green and it would be so more convenient for me to just walk across the street to the Poly or get...

'The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror 10-Miler Weekend'

RunDisney posted the course map and the event program on Monday. Hopefully this is the info you are looking for. RunDisney also posted final race instructions for the 10 miler, Happy Haunt 5K, and kids races. Race waivers are also listed. Here's the 10 miler waiver.

A2grafix's Coast 2 Coast Challenge Part 1: 2013 Disneyland Half

Since I have never run down Main Street at Walt Disney World, only seen pictures and video, can't really compare. I did find that Main Street in Disneyland was steady but spaced out enough that we were not bunched up. It was close to the 3-mile marker. There was a lot of wiggle room throughout...

A2grafix's Coast 2 Coast Challenge Part 1: 2013 Disneyland Half

@Texas84 did you see running on the Santa Ana River trail the markings for the 13-mile mark? I did any many other runners. I wondered aloud where our finishers medal was. Good joke that kept everyone's spirits up.

    What did you do?

Passed my annual Air Force physical fitness test Sunday morning about an hour after sunrise. It was mid 70s and moderate humidity when I did my sit-ups, push-ups and required 1.5 mile run. I ran a half marathon last weekend so the run came easy, but it was for time and points on a 100-point...

A2grafix's Coast 2 Coast Challenge Part 1: 2013 Disneyland Half

Funny thing as I was making to the 13 mile marker a runner who had finished earlier said "Run Faster! They just ran out of medals!" Have to say that I had some of the best food, economical food, at the Magic Kingdom. Ate several times at Bengal Barbeque in Adventureland. Whoah. Under $4 for BBQ...

A2grafix's Coast 2 Coast Challenge Part 1: 2013 Disneyland Half

When we reached Mile 9 right outside Angels Stadium my spirits raised big time. Sun had risen and it was getting hotter. My feet ached and my, um, nipples were chaffed. Yeah, I forgot to apply Vaseline to my chest. Never again. I will remember next time. All that went away for the next 20...

A2grafix's Coast 2 Coast Challenge Part 1: 2013 Disneyland Half

Wrong idea. Several groups also claimed spot so there were at least 50 runners grouping together and getting ready for the half marathon. No one came up to meet to say they were from WDW Magic and by 4:45am we were all asked to leave because hotel guests were complaining. (Looking back at...

A2grafix's Coast 2 Coast Challenge Part 1: 2013 Disneyland Half

Hi everyone, I recently returned from a quick trip to Disneyland to run the 2013 half Labor Day weekend. I guess this is a trip report, though I have already mentioned a few things in the What Did You Do and Disneyland Half threads. To get it out of the way, I ran 2:36.0 in Sunday's half, my...

    Disneyland Half Marathon

I rifled through a lot of race merchandise but did not enter the dreaded 3-hour checkout line. "Ain't nobody got time for that!" I did see several I DID IT shirts as well as two Coast 2 Coast shirts. Don't think you can order online, but Disney has a parks merchandise line to buy stuff, so...

    Disneyland Half Marathon

@Texas84 you might have seen me at the Sorcerer's Hat. If I would have know that EVERY GROUP decided to meet under the hat, I would have said meet at ESPNZone or Earle of Sandwich. Yes, with all of the runners making it to the corrals, the 30-45 minute window evaporated super quickly. Waited and...

    What did you do?

Update: Ran 2:36.0 net time; 2:45:43 clock time in Sunday's Disneyland Half. Finished 139th in military division and 5,683 out of 15,847 runners according to runDisney / Track Shack. Not too bad for my first-ever runDisney half, and my second ever half. Ran faster than Joey Fatone, too, by...

    Disneyland Half Marathon

Found out I finished in 2:36.0 clock time and 136th overall in the military division. Not bad for moderate humidity, 70F at 5:30am and running through Disneyland's 2 parks, and through Angels Stadium. First half of coast to coast challenge in the books. On to November.

    What did you do?

Ran 13.1 miles with 17.5K of my friends Sunday morning at Disneyland Half. Between 2:30-2:45 hours. B corral. Run time temp 70F and partly cloudy. Said hi and passed Joey Fatone twice before and after Angels Stadium around miles 9 and 10. He started in A. Half of C2C challenge in the books.
