WOW - What a week at WDW

Ah yes, the auto gratuity. ...which makes it... something, but not a gratuity. Shameless service fee? Anywho, I have no problem when I am hosting a large party and they hit me with an auto 18%. It is about 7-12% less than I tip anyway, so everybody wins. I say that, once a bill goes over...

    Prices up…profits down…

Anytime you incentivize any sort of shenanigans, people are going to do it. Snake bellys all! I think there is a way to accommodate and NOT incentivize. We just have to figure out the sweet spot.

I would argue it is not a burden, and the benefits outweigh the burden 10-fold. Is getting a handicapped parking pass a burden? I mean, I guess it is a little burden, but the benefit makes it worth it. This is an old debate on this board. I have said it before, but I will say it again: if you...

Most legit people I talk to support this process. Removes guilt for the legit, eliminates the abusers, and builds credibility for those inconvenienced facilitating the accommodation (if applicable).

    Prices up…profits down…

Quoted for truth. WDW is a luxury-priced vacation, but it is not, in fact, a luxury experience. Sooner or later, that was bound to catch up. Ditching the Magical Express and packing the parks to the gills were my personal dealbreakers related to this phenomenon. Reportedly attendance\demand...

I am a bit ignorant as I have never worked a theme park, but it has to be better than most retail and fast food no? I would rather sweep vomit off WDW concrete all day than work at Taco Bell. ...which you could argue is sorta the same thing.

Exactly. It is the proper response to "Thank You". I don't say it otherwise. Completely unsolicited it is flat-out rude, imo.

"You're welcome" can have multiple meanings based on inflection and tone. English (unlike Chinese) is not super tone sensative.

Well, I mean, you could pay more... but letting standards slip is more certainly more affordable.

I noticed this with the dockworkers union. They are very much against automation of any kind. Dockwork seems like a great place for automation, but what do I know?

I think it is impossible for a lot of people. Take me for example. I would love to work at WDW. I like nice people. However, I despise nasty people, and would get myself fired the first time I had to deal with a real dirtbag.

That depends on your definition of "new", "very", and how old you are. I am an old who remembers a time before this was commonplace. Sure, there were the oil barons and whatnot back in the day, but in general, it's offensively prevalent now. Of course that depends on your definition of...

While you are not at all wrong, the reasons for this vary. One of the more aggressive opinions is that people got tired of being taken advantage of. The whole "If you don't like it, you don't have to work here" threat will get you into a pickle if you're not competitive with employee treatment...

Has Anyone Ever Been Banned From Disney for Posting Videos of Their Experiences on YouTube? Can They?

Florida, from what I can figure out in 4 minutes or less, has a 1 year expiration on Criminal Tresspass. So, after a year, you can go back without any risk, except them CT'ing you again if they catch you.

To those who rode the original 20k under the sea at DW, can you share your experience?

I remember the lines, the smell, and the dissapointment when I figured out it didnt go under the water. All that said, still really liked that ride and did it several times.

Quality of available merchandise significantly reduced?

Child labor maybe....ironic. I wonder if they let the kids wear mouse ears while they make mouse ears? How dystopian is that? lol

    Minor shift at Haunted Mansion

Where were they before, out in the weather? Makes sense to stick them out of the elements.

    Good Story On Costs

The people, or at least a suspiciously large number, seem to just really hate tourists. Maybe they just hate everybody? My mom was there a while back, and they traumatized her. Speaking just from my observations, and heavily in reaction to my mom's experience, I think the place is a maird hole...

Yes, that. REally any failure. Repercussions are interesting to watch.

Part of me finds it oddly satisfying. ...not the Disney loving part obviously.
