    Math on DVC Resales

I see BLT resale @ $160/pt. Direct price @ $191/pt That's a $1,550 difference for 50 points. I'll give you a $500 closing cost credit for a $1,050 difference. I understand this is completely subjective, but $1,050 can be a substantial amount of money. It's roughly a 10-15% surcharge on the...

    Math on DVC Resales

That's EXACTLY what @nickys is saying: I am under the assumption that direct prices are all the same regardless of resort. I can publicly see $182/point offered by Disney for CCV. However, if I'm mistaken, I don't know how anyone can prove what the price-per-point is for each resort when...

    Math on DVC Resales

    I'm not generalizing anything. A quick search online and I found (unsure if I'm allowed to link to the listings): HH - 50 points @ $82/point SS - 50 points @ $118/point VB - 50 points @ $76/point VB - 50 points @ $85/point BW - 50 points @ $155/point None of these are remotely close to the...

    Math on DVC Resales

I don't think so. The only way you could pull this off is by finding someone who just purchased a 50 year contract directly from Disney and decided to resell it. Buyer's remorse, of sorts.

    Math on DVC Resales

Fair enough. But what was the difference in price per point between buying direct vs. resale? For 95% (just a guess) of the world's population, money is a factor. For me, it's hard to gloss over this fact. To each his/her own, I'm not trying to preach. Money is a fact of life.

    Math on DVC Resales

This is completely dependent on resort. If the resale price and direct price are comparable, then I would agree with these statements. However, there is a large percentage of resorts where the resale and direct prices are nowhere near each other (AK, HH, OKW, SS, VB, WL). You can't keep making...

Typhoon Lagoon vs. Volcano Bay. Who is winning?

LOL, how are we suppose to take this? If a female swims, that means she isn't a lady?

    Math on DVC Resales

(side point....) These reasons, IMO, are terrifying and are more indicative of how poor consumer intelligence can be overall. It's a 50 year contract, folks; take your time and get the best deal. Why rush into it? Financing? For vacations? Scary stuff.

    Math on DVC Resales

The way people talk, some are completely dismissive of the idea that a DVC member has the chance to stay in any DVC resort. Yes, you're subjected to the luck of the draw based on availability, but it IS an option. There is too much fixation on one's "home" resort, when the entire system is...

What's your maximum on ticket prices? An unscientific poll...

No, FlamingMonkey brought it up as some confusing correlation to the Disney parks. Essentially, according to FlamingMonkey, if guests stop visiting Disney, then Disney will increase ticket prices to compensate for lost revenue. I know, confuses me as well.

    Math on DVC Resales

Personally, I don't understand why someone would buy into a Disney-offered resale (that is, a contract obtained by Disney via RoFR). Don't they charge the same price for these resales as they would a brand new resort? Essentially, Disney obtains the contract at a cheaper price via RoFR, jacks up...

    Math on DVC Resales

OKW '42 = 24 years remaining. SS '54 = 36 years remaining. 100 - ((24 years/ 36 years) * 100) = 33% more. What am I missing? Where are you getting this from?!?! It's actually worth MORE in the future, no? You are paying 2018 prices for a vacation in 2050. My inlaw's $8K DVC investment in...

    Math on DVC Resales

And as I previously stated, you don't need to be a DVC member to enjoy the benefits of offsite facilities (assuming you are willing to "pay-up" via retail prices). If you were a non-DVC member, only availability would prevent you from stay in a one-Bedroom villa at any DVC resort. (I'm guessing...

    Math on DVC Resales

But as you stated, you could never afford retail prices for the resorts. Buying into DVC made it more affordable for you. Unless I'm misinformed, anyone (non-DVC members) can stay at a DVC resort based on availability so long as they are willing to pay retail prices. Buying into DVC: makes the...

Because they are reducing costs. Until such time that attendance or demand reduces, they will continue to increase revenues while decreasing costs.

    Math on DVC Resales

Because that's what DVC is....pre-paying now for future vacations! (Forgive me, but I can't find any OKW '57 contract prices. I'll use SS instead) OKW '42 at ~$90/pt --vs-- SS '54 at ~$100/pt 33% more years for only a 10% increase in price. If you are already fronting $90/pt, why wouldn't...

Typhoon Lagoon vs. Volcano Bay. Who is winning?

I'll admit we didn't go to a water park this time around, but our resort did have a designated bus stop for it. I can't remember which water park it was, but it was bundled with another park (or Disney Springs). If there wasn't direct transportation, then the sign gave a false impression. I...

Typhoon Lagoon vs. Volcano Bay. Who is winning?

Is that true? IIRC, my resort had a bus terminal going to Typhoon Lagoon. I VERY much doubt this. Disney doesn't even charge for parking at the water parks. But this is irrelevant. Any Disney resort guest is a million times more likely to visit a Disney water park rather than VB.

Typhoon Lagoon vs. Volcano Bay. Who is winning?

How are attendance figures a fair comparison? Disney has 15 (?) resorts to supply visitors from. Only seems logical they would be winning the attendance battle.
