    Buying resale

No, I can't understand what you are trying to state. You've deviated way too far from the original topic, which was an incredibly simple one. You gave no examples. Everything you stated has been a floating hypothetical. Here are the parameters: I own OKW. OKW is my home base. Give me an...

    Buying resale

No. If your home base is OKW, then you stay at OKW because you can reserve first at 11 months. There is no getting "stuck" at SSR. But we have already established that being "forced" to stay at a more expensive resort was not the original intent as incorrectly stated. "Desiring" to stay at a...

    Buying resale

I think my general con on "buy where you want to stay", is it implies money is no object....which is irresponsible IMO. We're talking tens of thousands of dollars here for vacation. Yes, if you have a plethora of disposable income, buy wherever you want. But, I suspect a reasonable number of...

    Buying resale

Not really following much of this, but if I buy SSR because it's cheap (and has a diverse number of options), then I guarantee my stay at SSR in almost every season. So, I get guaranteed booking AND at a cheaper rate.

    Buying resale

Correct, using "have" or "want" completely changes the entire discussion. But I suspect only hard-core/ picky members NEED to stay at certain resorts. Most DVC members will enjoy any resort they visit.

    Buying resale

What does that mean exactly? Don't the "more expensive" resorts book-up faster? If I buy at a cheaper resort, in what scenario would I be forced to stay at a more expensive resort?

    Insane crowds, more space needed

I was commenting to a family member about how dangerous it was years ago during night parades. Unfortunately, I looked foolish as not much has changed. It got pretty dicey while trying to find a spot for Happily Ever After. They directed us to a part of the park that I had never even been to...

    Buying resale

To counter the "buy where you want to stay" mentality..... If you buy at a more expensive resort, you may feel obligated to consistently stay at that resort on every trip. This will obviously restrict your ability to experience different resorts through your life. Staying at a cheaper resort...

    MK Park Hours

That use to be 11pm-2am in years past. Sooooo, still getting less.

    MK Park Hours

Just.....telling the truth. It was less than a decade ago that MK was routinely open until 11p and midnight on most summer nights. Park prices increase annually. Thus, you pay more and get less.

Do you think you would be a Disney fan if your first time was recently?

The objectivity in this thread......good lord.

    MK Park Hours

Pay more, get less....the Disney way. MK closes at 10pm during the summer hours; sorry, during the "Magic Season". Magical indeed.

New Rider Switch Policy is Terrible

Go to the resort concierge and explain the situation. They should be more than willing to comp you a FP. I did this a few times and got comp'd for my entire party, which I didn't ask for.

Magic Kingdom ranks as 2nd most favorite amusement park in the U.S. !

SDMT, Splash M and Space M typically have longer wait times than Thunder Mountain. Seems pretty average to me.

Magic Kingdom ranks as 2nd most favorite amusement park in the U.S. !

I think you grossly underestimate the balance of theme compared to thrill. I don't disagree, the two DO compliment each other nicely, but the lines are longer at thrill rides because they are thrill rides. The theme of the thrill ride is secondary. If this weren't true, then the lines at...

Magic Kingdom ranks as 2nd most favorite amusement park in the U.S. !

Disagree 100%...for the reasons given above. I would use the word some, incredibly loosely. I believe you are talking about a very small subset of people. Ambiance can be a major attraction to rides that don't otherwise provide thrills. But for most thrill rides, it's the thrills themselves...

Magic Kingdom ranks as 2nd most favorite amusement park in the U.S. !

I'm not speaking negatively to the visuals, but don't pretend for a second that people ride Thunder Mountain for the ambiance; they ride it because it's a roller coaster! ALL thrill rides at WDW are popular which is reflected in the massive wait times. If ambiance was the attraction, then the...

News New sponsor coming to Walt Disney World's Splash Mountain

I've never owned a water-resistant phone. I've ridden SM dozens of times. I've been caught in multiple Florida downpours. I've gotten completely drenched on Ripsaw Falls. My phone sits in my pockets and never once had a problem. Same thing with our digital camcorder which I bring on every...

Magic Kingdom ranks as 2nd most favorite amusement park in the U.S. !

Visuals aside, Thunder Mountain is a generic roller-coaster and a benign one at that. It lacks any significant drops. It contains three uphill climbs and the front half of the train suffers greatly when released from the chain. The third leg of the ride is pretty uneventful. While most...
