News The Walt Disney Company Board of Directors Extends Robert A. Iger’s Contract as CEO Through 2026

Why or how any show gets greenlit for $200M in this post-peak TV day and age is beyond me.

Why does anyone like to go to Magic Mountain?

The Kingda Ka rumor is so wild to me given it's really one of the most iconic coasters at SFGA.

Why does anyone like to go to Magic Mountain?

I wonder if any of this sort of entertainment will return with the Cedar Fair merger of operations.

News Disney Lakeshore Lodge (Project 89 - Development near Fort Wilderness)

I, for one, would encourage Disney on holding on announcing things until they're further along and get them out of the habit of announcing things ~7 years before they intend to actually move dirt.

Interesting new transportation Option: Whoosh - Autonomous Elevated Cable & Rail System

Really? I thought Disney was juiced to expand the Skyliner.

News New Event Space and Luxury Rooms Coming to Walt Disney World Swan and Dolphin by Summer 2026

I was going to ask - Disney isn't making calls in this decision, right? Really just a general gutting of anything unique and whimsical across the industry.

DHS Monster Inc Land Coming to Disney's Hollywood Studios

If this is true, I wish Bob was more passionate about drilling a capacity mandate at WDI, versus an IP mandate. Imagineering knows they need to move tens of thousands of folks per day - the desire for story and immersion cannot supersede this simple operational fact.

News The Walt Disney Company Board of Directors Extends Robert A. Iger’s Contract as CEO Through 2026

Something I feel like would never happen again today given how competitive the studios are.

Why does anyone like to go to Magic Mountain?

I completely disagree with you here - both myself and my friend group (say 6-7 folks all 30+) tend to frequent SFMM over Disneyland nowadays. Why? First, we're all thrill seekers, and sometimes a good, intense roller coaster at SFMM scratches an itch that other parks in SoCal cannot. The park...

    Status/future of the Hyperion

Wasn't this a similar layout for that awkward 3rd park that was unofficially official at TDR? Before Fantasy Springs took a large chunk of that slot? Just saying it's something that's Disney's considered before. If that was ever an actual thing - I could be wrong.

I absolutely love the design and the project overall. Cannot wait!

News Coco Boat Ride Coming to Disney California Adventure

Funny, since I think the tunnel immediately prior to the dart room is one of the original examples of "they should really put something here," haha.

NYTimes - The Palace Coup at the Magic Kingdom

Same here. I do have sympathy for the guy - he was never going to succeed but I don't blame him for trying in the only capacity he knew how. I think history will be kinder on him than the present.

DHS Monster Inc Land Coming to Disney's Hollywood Studios

Good point, but I also argue that box office isn't the only metric of what makes a healthy franchise. It's an outdated way of measuring up a franchise given how fractured theatrical/streaming environment is nowadays. Does anyone have insight on the amount of merch the franchise moves?

News Peter Pan's Flight scene updates

Because the problem with Peter Pan was a scene within the attraction. The problem with Splash was the basis of the entire attraction.

News from the New York Times today: "Is a Disney Theme Park Vacation Still Worth the Price?"

Well then, the question remains does it make sense in the long term for Disney to continue their focus on the middle class if it's shrinking either way? Maybe their focus on higher incomes makes more sense?

News from the New York Times today: "Is a Disney Theme Park Vacation Still Worth the Price?"

I feel like Disney, with all the brilliant minds that exist within - and I don't mean that sarcastically - really doesn't understand the risks it's facing regarding its perception and value proposition.
