News The Walt Disney Company Board of Directors Extends Robert A. Iger’s Contract as CEO Through 2026

I think there's a piece of this argument that's missing, and that's the role external politics played on shifting public perception around the role DEI should play at corporations, with certain figures making an example out of Disney for political gain. I think Disney's being raked through the...

News Walt Disney World and other major Disney accounts stop posting on social media platform X

I'd honestly be surprised if anyone who is contributing to the trend was actually a subscriber in the first place, and if there's any material impact to attrition metrics at Disney+, outside of the standard monthly/quarterly churn.

News Walt Disney World and other major Disney accounts stop posting on social media platform X

Sorry, but there's truth to it. TikTok is where the brands are really focusing their energy. X is indeed viewed as a "Wild West" with high risk to brands in exchange for little reward. I work for a large streamer and this exact conversation has been taking place here as well. Truth is, ad...

I don't think it's an all-or-nothing approach. Going dark on organic and coming back after a short pause is indeed meaningless, but I'm curious if they're still dark on the paid media side, which is really where the action needs to take place to (continue to) hurt X's bottom line.

    Zootopia Coming To Shanghai

Cute little ride, but I agree with an earlier poster that the land needs a flat to round it out. Very curious to know if the plot of land next to Zootopia is for the Spider Man Vekoma? Is that still a thing?

DAK 'Encanto' and 'Indiana Jones'-themed experiences at Animal Kingdom

Completely agree. I think what you're also touching on - the shift from what was once deemed "entertainment" is not just "content" strips it of any value and inherent emotion. It's the commodification of storytelling. Something something about late stage capitalism.

DAK 'Encanto' and 'Indiana Jones'-themed experiences at Animal Kingdom

It's arrogance for sure, but I don't think it's arrogance in the sense that they believe they can produce anything and people will flock to it. Even I don't believe Iger believes that (anymore - I think the SW:GE opening opened his eyes to that.) I don't think what we're seeing is that belief...

Guests Injured by Falling Lamp Post

Purely speculative, but with the park's age I sense maintenance is prioritizing rehabbing versus replacing due to cost, when the latter is clearly needed more.

    Tokyo Disneyland Resort Expansion

The hotel still looks oddly two-dimensional in a park that had built a reputation for it's three-dimensional design.

News The Walt Disney Company Board of Directors Extends Robert A. Iger’s Contract as CEO Through 2026

It's interesting because yes, the math shakes out this way, but the wider narrative is that no, it wasn't a money loser for Disney. I wonder what the truth is, unless the victory is being claimed only when factoring in merch sales?

News The Walt Disney Company Board of Directors Extends Robert A. Iger’s Contract as CEO Through 2026

What do we think this is indicative of? A slow-growing confidence in Iger's strategy? Reaction to Iger's increased aggression in cutting the fat and investing in parks and ESPN?
