News Disney plans to accelerate Parks investment to $60 billion over 10 years

MK 1971 EP 1982 HS 1989 AK 1998 I'd say we're overdue! Do they have the land? Yes. Would people go? Yes. Would it make money? Yes. What's the problem again?

News Reedy Creek Improvement District and the Central Florida Tourism Oversight District

I think from DeSantis' point of view, Disney was a wholesome family-oriented company that has recently been infiltrated by decision makers that don't hold those values. Not inserting my opinion on the validity of this view, but it seems like the effort from DeSantis is more to steer Disney back...

    I got into a altercation @ F & G festival!!

First time I've come across this thread. Just read the first page without realizing it's almost 20 years old. Saw that other posters had done the same thing 10 years ago, not realizing it was 10 years old 🤣 My guess is someone will read this in 2033 and do the same! It looked like at one...

Why no simple dark rides in Galaxy's Edge?

I remember the warm & fuzzy feelings I had riding Delta Dreamflight as a kid, and the childhood attachment from simple rides like that kept me going back to WDW for decades. It seems like a simple 5-minute dark ride with popular SW characters would be a no-brainer from a standpoint of eating up...

This. Chapek has got to go. New regime needs to come in with a non-political "we are in the entertainment business, period" mantra.

    Spaceship in Spaceship Earth

Thanks! Would I be correct in saying she sat there for 12 years (2007-2019) without anyone knowing she was still there? I guess I'm just surprised it took that long for someone to snap a quick photo behind the curtain during an evac. Does anyone have confirmation that she's not still there now?

    Spaceship in Spaceship Earth

The working mother pictured below… am I correct that a curtain was placed in front of her in 1994 to hide her from guests, and nobody knew she was still there until a Twitter post in 2019? If this is correct, my next questions would be why did it take 25 years for someone to sneak a camera...

    Spaceship in Spaceship Earth

This is so cool. I have such great memories of riding the ride your dad helped design going back to the 80s when I was a kid. I guess the only unresolved question in my mind is what's inside the space station nowadays behind that black paint? :D And I'd wonder about any general comments...

Kristina Schake named Executive Vice President, Global Communications of The Walt Disney Company

I would associate this welcoming feeling more with classical liberalism. The concepts of liberty and freedom are central to creating a welcoming place, and I don't see that being valued by the loudest voices on the left today.

Bob Chapek's response to Florida's 'Don't Say Gay' bill

This time the frustration seems to be coupled with more action rather than performance. I'm hearing about a lot of Disney+ and trip cancelations. These are people who never liked Disney's pandering on these issues, but have finally had enough. My wife books trips to WDW as a travel agent so...

Bob Chapek's response to Florida's 'Don't Say Gay' bill

No. I was commenting on your hypothetical scenario in which a child is being teased by another child about having a gay sibling. Normally, the teacher who becomes aware of such behavior would refer the situation to guidance, who would then (after some initial fact-finding) get the parents...

They don't have to be, but when dealing with other people's kids, I sure hope any rational person would agree that they are.

Bob Chapek's response to Florida's 'Don't Say Gay' bill

I think this bill just took on a life of its own for various reasons. But I would actually say sex/gender issues place a distant 3rd in the list of concerns among the parent groups (masking/vaccines being #1, and CRT being #2).

Bob Chapek's response to Florida's 'Don't Say Gay' bill

I don't think it's that. I've had a front row seat to what I think the origin of this is. When schools started mandating masks, a lot of parent groups began to organize on social media to oppose the mandates. As a side effect, they also started paying much closer attention to what was being...

Bob Chapek's response to Florida's 'Don't Say Gay' bill

In this situation, it would more than likely go to guidance and be handled in that setting, along with the parents. Schools exist as a sort of informal agreement among parents to have their kids educated in a cost-effective way. There is never going to be perfect consensus among all parents...

Purple exit signs in Disney/Pixar Short Film pre-show area

I legitimately wonder if it was merely an oversight during past renovation projects, or if they made a willful decision to save the $100 it would have cost to change them out.
