In China things are quiet at this moment, not much media ever mentioned the deal is reaching the deadline, except WSJ-China. I really doubt it'll get a go-ahead today.

This year, I hope. SDR already found a contractor for a "project sting" back in June, they never announce what it is, but given it's $83 million budget, there's a good chance "project sting" is the new themed land.
Everest was on one of the early resort schematic layout, which has a lot of difference from the park that actually get built. I guess at some point Disney did consider bringing Everest to SDL, but it's no longer on the table.
