    A Spirited Perfect Ten

I don't think that most people realize what the entire new Tomorrowland'67 meant at that time. The major shows were truly World's Fair quality with several being new or experimental. It's difficult to describe what it was like to experience Adventure Thru Inner Space Atomobiles for the first...

Thanks! I'm waiting for the live action Peoplemover movie to hit the theaters. There has to be an IP in it somewhere. That and Motor Boat Cruise.

    Welcome to the all-new WDWMAGIC

Interesting information. Makes sense if you consider that many people are using their iPhones and iPads to access the site. Do your stats differentiate between mobile and desktop users?

Thanks! Took a few minutes searching but just found this. I almost forgot how enjoyable it was to read Eddie's comments:

Thanks! It could be just that my phone is scaling it for the screen size rather than the resolution. Turning my phone to landscape mode may have to be my interim fix.

HTC 8X running WP8 Using Internet Explorer 11. I think it's simply trying to render the page full-size and running out of room instead of allowing it to scale down to the smaller screen. (720x1280)

    Welcome to the all-new WDWMAGIC

The site redesign looks great! For some reason, it doesn't scale well on my Windows Phone. The margin for people's avatars leaves a tall column to read the rest of the text. The former mobile version worked flawlessly.

The rendering is of the original Space Pavilion, from a time before Horizons was completely developed. The small building in the front is not Horizons but an example of how a good design doesn't go to waste. It definitely looks like it inspired the angular design of Horizons' architecture...

Thanks for putting me straight -- I was falling down into the sinkhole! What I was really trying to say is that @marni1971 and @tribbleorlfl could both be right. I'm going to blame all this on @wdwmagic. Way, way back when Horizons was just closed and there were reports of the press...

Not to knock your source, but one would think one who worked maintenance on the building would be very credible. Even if it wasn't a sinkhole, structural issues due to shifting foundations seems very plausible.

More likely thay had fewer attractions, and multiple breakdowns since everything was cutting edge technology.

To put the original admission cost into perspective it's important to remember that the majority of amusement parks at that time had open admission. When Disneyland opened, one would still have to go around and purchase tickets for each attraction, on top of the general admission price. It's...

    A Spirited Perfect Ten

The issues of park crowding remind me of much discussion by MiceAge about Disneyland's woes. There were basically two things that alleviated it. The first was the reduction of attractions that used Fastpass, especially for attractions that didn't really need it such as the Haunted Mansion. It...

    A Spirited Perfect Ten

For me, I'd say that Disneyland's refresh of Space Mountain was very successful. It maintained the quality of the show, restored some of George's (McGinnis) designs, and even made some very cool enhancements. It also stayed away from the camp and "clever" embellishments that seem to pervade a...

I agree with much of what you say though when one starts putting people into categories such as "purists", "realists", etc.., it over simplifies the matter. Yes, they can just be considered to be theme parks. For many people, both those who enjoy the parks today, and those who enjoyed them in...

    A Spirited Perfect Ten

Excellent post! As a kid I was very impressed with Disneyland's 1967 Tomorrowland not realizing that several elements of it were considered to be the prototypes for a very real city for the future. Even our most ambitious companies today wouldn't consider such a feat, though SpaceX would...

To me, at that time, the benefits of Save Disney was not necessarily the ouster of Eisner, but the inclusion of Pixar. Not only was there going to be a renaissance in Disney creative endeavors through the influence of John Lasseter, but the remainder of Eisner's team, (Iger & Co), would be kept...

    A Spirited Perfect Ten

My impression is not that WDW1974 has an agenda against Disney, but an agenda against where the current top executives are taking the company -- away from the inspired and creative company that several of us here grew up with, and towards a mass-marketed BRAND that is pitched to the public as a...
