What are you most excited about from D23 2017?

Honestly, I'm excited for all of it, and I don't even know why. I can see myself eating at the space restaurant once or twice for giggles. I'm happy MK is getting a theater, but reserving my judgment until I know what's going to be on the stage. Don't ride coasters, so I don't care about...

    News Disney Riviera Resort announced

Thanks, @GoofGoof, for your insight. I was just coming to this thread to ask the same general questions that @matt9112 asked. When rumors started floating around that this would be a "moderate" DVC, my interest went way up, thinking I could persuade the family to buy in here. But all your...

News Disney Not Renewing Great Movie Ride Sponsorship Deal with TCM ; Attraction to Close

I'm surprised by how sad I am about the GMR closing, considering it's not news to me (thanks, thread). On my past few trips I haven't cared much whether I rode it or not, and now I'm kicking myself for the times I didn't ride when I could. I keep remembering how this is the ride that was...

Hey old timers! Tell us your early WDW memories.

Oh my gosh, I've loved reading this thread. My family started visiting in 1987 and so many of you are bringing back such happy memories from the 80s and 90s. The pirate adventure cruise for kids (complete with creepy trolls). Dining on The Empress Lilly. THE FIESTA FUN CENTER, which I still...

    Good changes made to rides?

I like the Three Caballeros figures at the Gran Fiesta Tour. That's a nice little plus. My whole family noticed when they were added, so that's a cool thing. I'm sad I can't think of more examples, though.

How would your day at The Magic Kingdom go?

Always straight to Frontierland to ride Splash and Big Thunder back to back, because they're the family favorites (and I get to have more coffee and peace and quiet on a bench, because I don't do drops). Then on to Fantasyland because that's usually where the FPs are. Lunch at Pinocchio's or...

    YC refurbed walkthrough

Ugh. All the character those rooms had is lost. I didn't like what I saw in still pictures, and this video just confirms that I hate the changes. We've alternated YC/BC the past few years just based on availability, and anytime we ended up staying at BC I'd be pining to be at YC. Not...

    Your favorite relaxing spots.

Oh, good. I'm not the only one who wakes up insanely early in WDW. My family thinks I'm nuts, but it's a whole different World when no one is around ;). I love it!

    Your favorite relaxing spots.

The deck areas at Y&BC that overlook the pool. I'm up at 4:30 AM every day, vacation or not, and I love sitting out there for hours before anyone else wakes up!

    Scariest Animatronic ?

I didn't know that ride existed until I saw your comment, but I just youtubed it and UGH. Nightmare fuel!

    Bug repellent in hotel room

I stayed at the Poly May 13-16, and there was no card, but there was a big package of Off repellent body wipes in the bathroom. We moved over to BC and nothing. It seems like the complimentary repellent is inconsistent now. FWIW, I brought my own bug spray and never needed it.

    Yacht club room number map?

Jumping in to say that a Touring Plans subscription is well worth it, IMO. It's $14.95 for a year and you get a lot more besides the very cool map/room view feature that @DisAl mentioned. It's an excellent site and app. I use it all year long, but especially when I'm in WDW. The app is way...

    Beach club or wilderness lodge?

Unless you think the seclusion and woodsy feel of WL will really do it for you, go with BC. If you still have park passes for that part of your trip, it's wonderful beyond belief to be able to walk from BC to World Showcase. You could easily spend every evening there, then hit the Boardwalk...

    Yacht Club Enhancements

The lake side of the resort and Stormalong Bay are fine. The area with the quiet pool and tennis court is full of construction equipment and vehicles (with the pool still accessible, although not very quiet). If sitting on the balcony is important to you, I would not want a room overlooking...

PHOTOS - The Market at Ale and Compass now open at Disney's Yacht Club Resort

This will not surprise me in the least. It will be extra sad because you see so much of CG from the lobby and as you take that hallway leading down to the Yachtsman. Unless, of course, they get rid of that open-air styling, but I can't see why they'd do that.

PHOTOS - The Market at Ale and Compass now open at Disney's Yacht Club Resort

My trip is sadly over! I don't have any more pictures. I wish I'd taken more! The dining room is up (or down?) a couple stairs off the market. I didn't feel like the ceiling was very low, but the room is indeed enclosed and narrow. I think I counted 20 or so seats. The glass double doors...

PHOTOS - The Market at Ale and Compass now open at Disney's Yacht Club Resort

Oh, that makes sense. I was surprised Captain's Grille was still open. They hadn't been taking ADRs for May. I hope this all means we'll see a little more decor in the Marketplace eventually. Even then, it's jarringly different from the lobby. I wish they'd gone for a richer nautical look...

PHOTOS - The Market at Ale and Compass now open at Disney's Yacht Club Resort

I went in there a few times and walked past it dozens of times last week, and it was never very crowded at all. Nothing like the Beach Club Marketplace, even at meal times. I'm not sure why they hurried to open it without completing it. Makes me think they really don't have any further...

AoA for 4 adults (2 couples)

You're good, then! I wouldn't hesitate to stay at AoA under those circumstances. I figured the construction had messed with your moderate options, but had to ask. I think you'll love AoA and have a blast with your friends there, and moving on to a deluxe with just your husband will be the...

AoA for 4 adults (2 couples)

The couple sleeping in the living area wouldn't necessarily have much privacy, with the other couple having to go through their area to get in and out of the room. Still, I'd have no problem sharing an AoA suite with one other couple if we were close friends and had a high comfort level...
