Coronavirus and Walt Disney World general discussion

Isn't it because NJ has met the 70% vaxx rate target?

This seems extremely unlikely, at least in the next 2-3 years. Especially if Disney has an inventory of themed masks to sell.

News Disney Vacation Club Announces Expansion at The Villas at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa

I know it's anecdotal, but hearing this news about GF made me think about it. We all know each other but they weren't traveling together - at the time they thought, "What are the odds!" Turns out the odds might have been better than any of us realized.

News Disney Vacation Club Announces Expansion at The Villas at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa

I know two families that were automatically upgraded from Caribbean Beach to Grand Floridian in March. Selling the ultra-deluxe resort rooms must be a problem.

FastPass+ Most Certainly Not Coming Back As It Was

I understand the yearning for simpler times at WDW, but technology never retreats, only adjusts and advances. As soon as they deem it plausible some sort of ride reservation system will return. The one thing we can hope for is that it's not so complicated and doesn't require months of planning...

You're correct, it is not the normal experience.

FastPass+ Most Certainly Not Coming Back As It Was

We're going in December and there's so many questions. Like will park hoppers be able to leave their reserved parks before 2? Will ADR's go back to 180 days between now and then, and if so how much notice will we receive about the change? Will there even be a MVMCP? And of course, FP+...

FastPass+ Most Certainly Not Coming Back As It Was

That's an excellent point about the 50th. There's going to be so much emphasis on this, plus the "we're fully open, we're safe, come back" marketing that rocking the boat (with FP+, lots of AP changes, etc.) might damper the celebration. Summer 2022 is when we might see real, substantial, and...

FastPass+ Most Certainly Not Coming Back As It Was

Tiered pricing based on resort stay category, and eliminating advance reservations seems like the simplest solution to me. Which is why Disney will never go for it. Oh, and hi everybody, it's been a while. This pirate has been hibernating since March 2020.

Masks and Social Distancing Go Away in WDW

I expect restrictions to be loosened in phases. For starters will be a gradual increase in capacity over 2021 (maybe with a goal of 100% by the holidays) and reduction of social distancing protocol for lines, shows and other events. Masks will be the last thing to go - but this may also be...

News Chapek FIRED, Iger New CEO

Bob I. remaining as an executive means this is essentially a probationary period for Chapek. If things go to hell they can re-instate Iger as Interim CEO while conducting an external search.

News Test Track Closing for Refurbishment January 2020

While I like TT (not to the point where it's a must-ride), I've long believed this ride has an not-too-distant expiration date. 2027 seems like a good bet. Once the major work on Epcot Worlds is done I believe they will gut this attraction and turn it into something completely different -...

    The Imagineering Story on Disney+

Revisit every episode and you'll see a distinct change in critical evaluation of the entire Corporation after Iger. The last episode in particular was a pure PR piece for Shanghai and Star Wars. Not surprising, but disappointing nonetheless.

    The Imagineering Story on Disney+

They're going to position the last decade or so as the end of the "austerity" period but I'm not buying it. WDI may have been given the attention-to-detail greenlight again but at the cost of new attraction offerings.
