Agree 100% with your last sentence - doesn't mean they shouldn't apply, but they should definitely not plan on getting the DAS.

If people choose to not apply, that's really on them.

You're actually the only person I've seen on any forum who has implied that it's discrimination to make people wait on the phone, so I doubt that when Disney gets sued it will be over the phone wait times.

Some can yes, which is why some people with autism and other developmental and/or neurological disabilities aren't being granted a DAS. And no one is dismissing anyone's disability, but there is a big difference between an issue being caused due to waiting in a line and an issue occurring...

My thought as well. To believe that documentation is going to make a difference, you would have to believe that everyone that is currently being denied is denied because Disney thinks they're lying, and I don't believe that's the case.

Agree, but again, I don't think the biggest problem was cheaters. And if that's the case, then a note really does nothing of value, IMO.

OK, so it weeds out liars and cheats, but liars and cheats aren't what caused the biggest part of the problem with DAS. So now you've weeded out the liars and cheats, and you're left with people who have proven they have a disability, but that doesn't mean they need a DAS, so they'll be offered...

If approvals start overwhelming the system again, at some point I can Disney just going the route of saying there is no way to accommodate those who can't wait in line without negatively impacting park operations.

Validating that someone has a disability does nothing when it comes to determining accommodations.

I disagree that cheating was the biggest issue with DAS prior to the changes - I believe it was people who are genuinely disabled, but that don't really need DAS in order to access the parks. And documentation does nothing to alleviate that issue.

Add to the theater aspect of IBCCES the fact that proving the disability exists does nothing to determine whether or not (or which) accommodations a guest needs.
