Eddie Sotto's take on the current state of the parks

The idea of the Halloween holiday layovers was mentioned in a thread on another forum recently. The main one being discussed was Haunted Mansion Holiday which works well mainly because it can easily incorporate two seasons. Someone mentioned the possibility of doing a Haunted Jungle Cruise...

Eddie Sotto's take on the current state of the parks

I've noticed major problems with guests as well. Toy Story Mania's queue in DHS is already being destroyed in places as guests continually peel paint off the walls, and its sad to say, but the hallways of Space Mountain have already been vandalized. It was reported last week that major pieces...

Eddie Sotto's take on the current state of the parks

No, I'm fairly certain they're saving the corners for the CVS and Walgreens pharmacies. People are somewhat crazy about their coffee however. I don't know how many times I've seen that topic posted on various disney message boards. "Where can I get some Starbucks coffee". I'm sure Disney...

Eddie Sotto's take on the current state of the parks

On a separate issue I was reading your interview over at imagineering disney and saw a picture in there that blew my mind. Can you imagine having a tomorrowland somewhere with this type of architecture. That would be amazing, futuristic, and exciting. I would die from excitement if I walked...

Eddie Sotto's take on the current state of the parks

Interesting. I never realized that the scenes were supposed to be on flat sets. I always assumed it would be an extremely detailed set like Pirates and others. I think you're right that if it didn't have the immersion factor to it, that it would have detracted greatly. I think the big...

Eddie Sotto's take on the current state of the parks

Thanks. What you stated there very much reminds me of Marc Davis and his desire to have Western River Expedition built. It was his life work and unfortunately he never got to see it happen but instead saw a young imagineer, Tony Baxter, inadvertently steal his thunder by getting Big Thunder...

Eddie Sotto's take on the current state of the parks

Just curious Mr. Soto, Has there been any specific portion of this thread that has been enlightening to you in any way and made you go, "hmmmm.... I haven't thought of that before." Or has everything that we've mentioned been something that's already run through your head a million times. I...

    Universal Picture of the Day

Just once I'd love to take a week or so by myself to visit the Orlando theme parks and just do a photo trip. I always want to take a great bit of time peeking around looking for the perfect photo, unfortunately my family always gets greatly annoyed with me and I wind up just snapping one or two...

WDWMAGIC Space Mountain soft opening report and detailed overview

That's probably good advice. Just because someone sees Disney failing to live up to their standards doesn't make them a jerk, and just because someone doesn't care as much as another doesn't make them an idiot either. Both sides are certainly entitled to their opinions and should be able to...

WDWMAGIC Space Mountain soft opening report and detailed overview

I despise this type of comment more than anything else. You like something that was done really well, well go ride it then and leave our crappy one along. If I could easily travel to Disneyland I would go there. Heck, if I had that option I'd just do Tokyo instead. However the only option I...

MK updates 11/22 - New addition to Carousel of Progress, food locations open, etc.

Hasn't that been there for a while? Maybe I've always been imagining things.

Eddie Sotto's take on the current state of the parks

Personally I'd be happy if they brought the ride back in almost the exact same form it first appeared in, only with effects that are up to date, and maybe a dreamfinder who doesn't look so much like a scary pedophile. that's one thing I didn't like about the original. I really liked the...

Eddie Sotto's take on the current state of the parks

I agree, but they need to return the real Figment. I was thinking about this last night for some odd reason as I drove home from work at 11PM. The original figment showed us childlike imagination. He was comparable to maybe a 5 year. He was wide eyed and excited about his imagination just...

SPACE MOUNTAIN- I assure you, we are SOFT re-OPEN!!!

I wouldn't call that a TDO excuse, it was a Walt foundation for why he built the property. He wanted a place where the whole family could have fun together. He loved taking his girls to the amusement park, but he did not like how all the adults sat on the side while all the children played...

SPACE MOUNTAIN- I assure you, we are SOFT re-OPEN!!!

I'm fairly certain this was never in the planned stage. It might have been mentioned in a blue sky passing but I've never heard this as a credible rumor before. while there's some room in the mountain, I think it would be impossible to do that.

SPACE MOUNTAIN- I assure you, we are SOFT re-OPEN!!!

If they add a better lighting package to the mountain it would help this refurb go up a notch in my book. Its no LED lighting which can change colors, but I'll take it over basic white. If they add proper lighting the only other three things I'd really like to see in the future would be silent...

SPACE MOUNTAIN- I assure you, we are SOFT re-OPEN!!!

This might be one of the dumbest things I've ever read on this forum. If I had 500 million dollars I might do that, since I don't think the 50 bucks or so I have left over would go very far I think I'll keep my money. Do you take that idea with every company you do business with? Well...

Eddie Sotto's take on the current state of the parks

While speaking on the concept of thematic design you mentioned autopia. I'm curious about the version in WDW. It seems so clearly out of place. We're in the world of tomorrow but are driving gas guzzling cars that don't look futuristic in any shape or form. I'm curious if there was ever...

SPACE MOUNTAIN- I assure you, we are SOFT re-OPEN!!!

For those of you talking about becoming an imagineer there's two things I'll mention. 1. One of the first things Lassiter pushed for when he became creative consultant was for all imagineers to be required to draw, any who couldn't were pushed out. 2. You'd do well to read through the Eddie...

    CM Previews

CM Previews are different than soft opens. They're a time when only CMs can ride, sometimes after hours, sometimes specially scheduled times during the day. That said, I don't know.
