DINOSAUR closed for refurbishment July 25 - November 20 2016

It looks like a really incredible job. The vortices work great! Although the lighting at the climax really make carnie #3 look like a head on a stick. But I'll admit that their options are limited there. The climax at Jurassic Park next door has the same issue. (The one in CA doesn't) But...

Animatronics: The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly

Those were way better images than I found on Google, Thank you! Plus! I never knew he was reading an instruction manual before!

    Stitch's Great Escape Goes Seasonal

The thing that bothers me the most is that I had such expectations from that space. The theaters, structurally, go all the way down to Tomorrowland tunnel. There is a lot of space there, all for the taking. But now that they're going down to one theater operation makes me think that...

Animatronics: The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly

Not totally relevant, but does anyone have any good shots of SIR's eyes? I'm trying to get an idea of what the basic shapes were. The easiest answer would be "human," of course. But his were slightly sinister somehow. An actual artist could describe it better than I could. Please and...

    Expedition Everest effects status watch

From what I understand, the gator bot is one of those things that look great under the right conditions. Other than daylight, I think the vehicles are too close for the show system's liking. In other words, I think that scene's problem is that it doesn't get enough time to reset. Correct me...

Animatronics: The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly

Thank you very much! I hadn't known that she made it out of the TNM fire "alive." They can always re-animate her some day.

Animatronics: The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly

In the "It needed to die, but ..." category: The goddess bot they built for the that Tiki Room was a really attractive looking and moving character. I'm very happy that the original management is back at Tikis. But that bot was literally a showpiece. I know she replaced the fountain. But...

Animatronics: The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly

"Kitchen Karabet" It was an amazing show with a great soundtrack. I'm predictably disappointed by its loss. I saw its replacement once ... once.

Animatronics: The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly

The first alien extended much further. There were more "goo drip" effects as well, I think. I believe it was significantly darker as well. Alien 2 used to seem like he came from nowhere. Now, with the current lighting, he just looks like he's taking a snooze like the monk in Spaceship Earth.

    Haunted mansion change?

If it's Magic Band stuff, who knows! I'm sure you've already thought of this. But the lighting outside the Mansion makes a fairly significant change on how the internal lighting is perceived; Darker outside, seems different on the inside. Since you're there, make the "sacrifice" of riding...

Animatronics: The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly

Slight Redirect: Speaking of really minimal, yet very successful animatronics is the RCA Home of the Future. I, like others I suspect, rode Space Mountain on multiple occasions just to see the post show. And if you rode the (then) Wedway Peoplemover, you got a bit of an extra show.

You're absolutely right. And Disney has tried (and failed) before. The Yeti thing is really the only "beef" I have; swing and a miss.

Animatronics: The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly

It confuses me when people describe the Yeti as an advanced creation. I understand that it was meant to be. But, at the end of the day, Rhode and Co. failed. They spent so much time bragging about how many "jet engines of thrust" it was capable of. They apparently spent little time thinking...

Animatronics: The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly

Perfect! Thank you, Cmdr_Crimson! I wonder if the swoop in the roofline was added optically or was part of the scene re-dress.

Animatronics: The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly

An honorable mention to the new "Harolds" at the Matterhorn. Not only do they look great. But they're entirely pneumatic. This is certainly not new to animatronic figures. But he moves like hydraulic. EDIT: After a little research, it looks like the big change is the valves...

Animatronics: The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly

A lot of these "low quality" bots begin life as static statues in a central shop-type location. They are cut apart and some very simple mechanics are installed; mostly without any show sync at all. They just have to be plugged in and they're good to go. Sound like a cheap "alternative," but...

Rumor Stitch's Great Escape Replacement— Don’t Hold Your Breath

If I was told correctly, The only 4D element along those lines was 99F water sprinkles. Apparently slightly over body temperature so that after their brief fall they're very close to body temperature when they hit a surface.

Oh I see. I wasn't suggesting that correlation was intentional.

News Big changes coming to EPCOT's Future World?

I thought the second song was just as relevant. And considering that Canada was right around the corner, you might say that: "We are here to change the world" - Future World "You're just another part of me." - World Showcase

Rumor Stitch's Great Escape Replacement— Don’t Hold Your Breath

Re: Sugar Rush Go Outdoor trackless EVs (like Luigi's). A lot more expensive. Taking away the accellerator and brake will really make the string-holding legal dept very happy though. And they'll have 100% control over throughput. Every race: random dramatic neck-to-neck races with random...
