New DAS System at Walt Disney World 2024

So we’re a month out from May 20 now. Are people still booking DAS 30 days out or is that cut off? (Or being cut off tomorrow?)

It’s because it’s not a myth. It’s just also not the whole story. It is skip the line access. It’s just not instant.

Totally agree “Whoopsie! I guess I accidentally forgot to scan the most expensive thing in my cart! My bad!” It’s a lot less scary to play that game than to shove cell phones down your pants and walk out.

I think its effect on the true cheats might be limited. I'm sure it will scare a few who may not have realized that the lifetime ban for lying to get DAS was already a thing. I'm sure it'll crack down on people using DAS to essentially sell 3rd party VIP tours too. What it will do, mostly, is...

New DAS System at Walt Disney World 2024

I agree that the number of individuals who genuinely require the DAS pass in it's current form is small. However, Disney at present only offers two tiers of accommodations: 1. No accommodations at all 2. Unlimited front of the line access So anyone who does need accommodations of any kind is...

If park capacity remains the same, it's impossible for standby wait times to remain the same unless guest behavior changes drastically. Everyone who uses lightning lanes, whether it's through DAS, G+, or ILL's, is occupying more queues than they would without those features. Standby times are...

New DAS System at Walt Disney World 2024

I’ve never been to Disneyland so I don’t pay too much attention to it, but it sounds like DAS abuse was causing more problems over there than in Florida. I’ve seen videos of terribly backed up LL’s over there, and read about people who had paid for Genie+ showing up for their lightning lane and...

I mean, not really though. It’s one thing to have been participating all along in the conversation. None of us read 160 pages at once.

    That percentage sounds enormous.

That would not make standby times longer. The DAS people filling up the lightning lane makes standby times longer.

On your number estimates earlier, a lot of it seemed to hinge on the assumption that there would be about 300 genie+ slots for that hour at Haunted Mansion. Where does that figure come from?

Hopefully they think something else up fast. The insanity of the original plan should have been immediately obvious. Hey, let’s not tell anyone what the new rules are until May 20th. Let’s also roll this out on May 20th AND let’s not let anyone register for any trip that starts on May 20th...

It seems they are trying to cut DAS usage by far more than 25%. I don’t know what they are targeting but my guess is closer to 80%. They are trying to use different accommodations from DAS for nearly every disability.

I agree. I mentioned somewhere in this massive thread that I believe DAS abuse was actually helping G+ sales because it made the lines so much worse, and Disney actually liked it that way for a while. But it was also a self-perpetuating thing. Longer lines led to more Genie+ but also more DAS...

And all those stops just make DAS even better comparatively. Because you’re “waiting in line” the whole time you are making those stops.

It is likely that when traveling to crowded tourist destinations, that yes this is the case.

I think the real answer is that autistic people have more advocates and those advocates have been more litigious than advocates for other disabilities in the past.

Well it's not legally mandated, so there's no issue.
