New DAS System at Walt Disney World 2024

That’s not quite true. Many people were used to registering at a blue umbrella upon arrival. Surely we have lost many of those.

Anyone with an AP could have theoretically extended a DAS pass to mid July. For AP holders registering under the old rules as May 20 approached, you could register 30 days prior to the start of your trip and the pass was good for 30 days (starting from the start of that trip). I personally...

They need to approve DAS for every disability? Even ones thar don’t affect your ability to wait in line?

I guess it would depend on how many prior DAS users invest in Genie+

“Has to” is probably a bit of a stretch. i think there are some websites dedicated to this that keep more detailed data. You may not need to bother with this. https://www.thrill-data.com/waits/park/wdw/magic-kingdom/

The thread is also full of people saying they registered before May 20th so I’m not sure how scientific it is since nobody actually reads what they’re responding to.

I think the first screening that takes place, honestly, is does the DAS seeker fit one of these 2 criteria: 1) Is a child 2) Is an adult traveling with his or her child If you’re an adult traveling yourself or with other adults, you aren’t going to have much luck except in a very rare...

One person out of a group occasionally using this is nothing like groups of 6+ routinely using the lightning lane together. People want to be with their groups. It’s hard to imagine return to queue being a huge deal.

New DAS System at Walt Disney World 2024

In what scenario would you realistically have that happen? 20 people who were all very close to each other in line needed to leave?

New DAS System at Walt Disney World 2024

I think a lot of people are pretty rightly nervous about trying to leave and return to a queue. I don’t think Disney wants to make that seem like an appealing and easy to use option.

There are a lot of clauses like that in service agreements though. Or, at least, they require you to go through their official process and arbitration before bringing suit. There may be some standing for them since you are buying into a service which is totally optional and agreeing to those...

New DAS System at Walt Disney World 2024

This should be apparent for many disabilities. Not all the queues are the same. People who were getting DAS for claustrophobia type reasons might lose their minds in line for Rise of the Resistance or Little Mermaid. But have no issue for Slinky Dog. It’s really easy for those of us who don’t...

I’m guessing it won’t be long before clauses like these are ruled unenforceable

It seems the rollout of the latest iteration of Universals disability access had quite a bit of fuss and mess around it when it launched.

New DAS System at Walt Disney World 2024

Just reading the responses I’ve seen from people approved and denied so far, I think I can see what the magic words are that someone needs to use to game the system in this iteration. It seems pretty clear that they want as few people as possible on the DAS, and it seems pretty clear what...

New DAS System at Walt Disney World 2024

Maybe. There may be plenty of conditions aggravated by heat that people have a much easier time managing when they aren’t stuck in a corral out in the sun waiting for Mickey and Minnie’s runaway railway though.

This is not at all relevant to the discussion but, if I had access to GAC when TSMM came out, I think my arm would have fallen off

So DAS users wanting to ride the ride once = 50% of capacity? It seems more than plausible that the average DAS user would put in to ride it at least twice right after it opened though. So what happens then?

New DAS System at Walt Disney World 2024

Well if they’re moving to the standby line, they’re no longer in 2 lines at once. And most, if not all of them, won’t routinely have the patience to stand in line for the hotter rides the way they “wait” for them now with DAS.

One leads to the other Standby lines can’t remain as long as they are without significantly increasing G+ usage.
